What is Responsible Gaming?

Playing games is supposed to be fun! But sometimes, a hobby can turn into an unhealthy activity, and Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) games are no exception.

We want all PrizePicks Members to have a safe and enjoyable experience on our platform. That's why our game has built-in tools to help keep your play fun and safe. We also require all Members to verify their age before they can make an account. Anyone under the age of 19 (or 21 in AZ and MA) is not permitted to play on PrizePicks.

Additionally, we provide Members with tools that allow you to take control of your responsible gaming experience. These tools make it possible to monitor your play, set limits for yourself, or take a break if and when you need to.

Practicing responsible play is not an indication that you have a problem. It's an effective way to make sure you don't develop habits that negatively affect your play experience or your health. We encourage you to explore the Responsible Gaming Tools and resources available in our app, and to make use of them as needed.

How can PrizePicks Members practice responsible gaming?

PrizePicks features several responsible gaming tools and resources to ensure a safe and secure DFS experience. This includes:

  • Alerts: Receive notifications if you go over your preselected daily, weekly, or monthly thresholds for lineup submissions.
  • Limits: Set self-imposed daily, weekly, or monthly deposit or play limits for at least 90 days.
  • Timeouts: Temporarily disable your ability to submit lineups or deposit funds for a period between 1 and 30 days.
  • Self-Exclusion: Temporarily disable all access to your account and block all marketing notifications for 30 days or more.

Timeout and Self-Exclusion Policy

  • Timeouts: You can take a break from PrizePicks for a minimum of 1 day and a maximum of 30 days. During this time, you won't be able to submit lineups or deposit funds, but you can still log in and withdraw funds.
  • Self-Exclusion: You can exclude yourself from PrizePicks for a set amount of time. The duration options are 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 5 years, or Lifetime. During this time, you won't be able to play or log in to your account. Self-exclusion and timeouts are important responsible gaming tools to protect your player health. If you're concerned about your gaming habits, these might be the right tools for you. We also encourage you to check out our Kindbridge Behavioral Health benefits available for free to all PrizePicks Members. Learn more here.
What is a Gaming Disorder?

A gaming disorder is when someone struggles to control their gaming habits, and it begins to negatively affect their life and health. Signs of problem gaming include playing for longer periods than intended, trying to cut back on gaming but not being able to, and losing interest in other activities.

Additional Information

Like many other addictions, problem play includes uncontrollable urges, which, if left unchecked, could result in financial hardship. Anyone could be susceptible to problem play regardless of age, gender, race, or financial status. However, once detected, problem play can be successfully treated. The key is early detection to avoid adverse consequences. If you feel you have a problem, we urge you to seek assistance. Learn more about resources available to you through our partnership with Kindbridge Behavioral Health

Problem-play warning signs include:

  • Playing more to recoup or chase previous losses.
  • Sacrificing time from family or work to participate in tournaments.
  • Repeated inability to stop or control participating.
  • Borrowing money to participate or to pay off previous losses.
  • Neglecting one’s family or oneself due to excessive play.
  • Lying or not being truthful about time or money lost to playing.
  • Selling or pawning personal property to play.
  • Feelings of hopelessness, depression, or suicide.

If you or someone you know is or may be experiencing a problem, remember that assistance, intervention, and treatment are available.

Resources that provide professional and compassionate service include:

PrizePicks' Partnership with Kindbridge

We are proud to partner with Kindbridge Behavioral Health to provide our members with access to professional mental health support. Kindbridge offers services like mental health screening, diagnostic assessments, and therapy sessions. All services are provided by certified clinicians, and there are no costs for PrizePicks members. We understand that one of the biggest barriers to accessing care is cost, and we have removed that barrier. Learn more about our partnership and access the resources (Kindbridge Link).

How do I access the responsible gaming tools?

Log into your account and look for the “Responsible Gaming” tab in the dropdown menu located in the top left corner of the PrizePicks app. If you are using the browser app, the dropdown menu is located in the top right corner instead.

Can I permanently deactivate my PrizePicks account?

Yes, if you feel that playing PrizePicks is having a detrimental effect on your health and well-being, you can permanently deactivate your account. Scroll down to the Self-Exclusion section of the Responsible Gaming Tools and select "LIFETIME" from the dropdown menu.

If you choose to do this, you will not be able to reactivate your account or create a new account for any reason. If you want to delete your account for a reason unrelated to responsible gaming, please refer to instructions on the Deactivation page instead.

BetBlocker

BetBlocker is a free third-party tool designed to help you control your gaming by blocking access to nearly 15,000 gaming websites. It can be installed on as many devices as you would like, and you can customize the period of time you wish to block access (one day minimum, five years maximum). BetBlocker also offers a calendar-blocking functionality which allows you to block specific days of the week, month, or year.

What if I have unused funds left in my account when I self-exclude?

If you have funds left in your account, we recommend you withdraw them BEFORE you finalize your self-exclusion. You will not have access to your account once you submit your request.

If your self-exclusion has an end date (i.e., any selection other than LIFETIME), you will need to wait until the full period of time has elapsed before you can access your funds.

Can I edit or cancel my limit, timeout, or self-exclusion decision after I hit save?

No. For your protection, you may not edit or delete any responsible gaming limitations you initiate until the specified time period has passed.

Concerned about a family member's gaming habits?

If you are concerned that a family member is exhibiting warning signs of compulsive play behavior, please contact PrizePicks’ Customer Support for assistance. Eligible third parties may request that a DFS consumer be excluded from PrizePicks or request the setting of deposit and/or loss limits. Proof of eligibility status will be requested in documentary form evidencing sole or joint financial responsibility for the source of any funds deposited with PrizePicks for gameplay including: (i) proof that the requestor is jointly obligated on the credit or debit card associated with the DFS Consumer's account; (ii) proof of legal dependency of the DFS consumer on the requestor under state or federal law; (iii) proof of the existence of a court order that makes the requestor wholly or partially obligated for the debts of the person for whom exclusion is requested; or (iv) proof of the existence of a court order requiring the DFS consumer to pay unmet child support obligations. PrizePicks, in its sole discretion, may request additional documentary verification information to establish third-party eligibility.

What should I do if I suspect a minor is using PrizePicks?

If you believe that a minor under your care, or any minor, is using PrizePicks, especially if they have used the personal information of an adult family member to create or operate an account, please contact us immediately at support@PrizePicks.com. Our team will take appropriate action to investigate and ensure compliance with our strict age verification policies. We are committed to protecting minors and promoting responsible play.
