Verification

In order to activate your PrizePicks account, you will be required to complete a verification process. This is done to prevent fraudulent activity and to add security to your account.

We will ask you to share your full name as it appears on a government-issued ID (such as a drivers license), as well as your DOB, home address, and a valid email address to connect to your PrizePicks account. We may also request a selfie clearly showing your face alongside a government-issued ID.

In order to successfully complete your verification, you will need to show that you meet the following requirements:

  • Must meet the age requirements for your jurisdiction
  • Must have a legal United States (US) residential address within the 50 states, Puerto Rico, or the US Virgin Islands (exceptions may apply for active US military personnel stationed abroad)
  • Must be a US citizen, US permanent resident, or have a valid US visa*

If you are attempting to make Team and/or Culture picks, you will need to go through an additional verification process to show that you have a valid Social Security Number (not a Taxpayer Identification Number). This is a requirement, even if you’ve previously completed standard PrizePicks verification.

Verification FAQ

I already completed verification, so why am I being asked again?

There are a few cases where you will be asked to re-verify in order to unlock your account. This could be due to a long period of account inactivity, or if you delete your account and attempt to reactivate. It could also be due to the additional SSN requirement that comes with Team and Culture picks.

Why am I being asked for my Social Security Number?

An SSN is legally required in order to participate in Team and Culture picks specifically. Even if you don’t plan to make Team or Culture picks, or if those pick types are not available in your region, there may be situations where we need more information before we can verify your identity.

We will securely process your information when we conduct the verification process.

Why am I being asked to submit a photo of my ID?

If your account isn't automatically verified after you sign up, that means we need more information before we can verify your identity.

To complete this process, you only need your smartphone and a government-issued ID, such as a driver's license or a passport. If you follow the instructions in the app, the verification process will take less than two minutes.‍

What happens after I submit my ID?

After you submit a valid government-issued photo ID, you will be notified with one of the following status reports:

1. Verified: You will receive a notification that says "Verification Successful." You'll also be provided a link to the deposit page where you can add funds to your account and begin playing PrizePicks.

2. Resubmit ID: The most common reasons for this are a blurry picture, improper lighting, or an invalid ID, like a library card or debit card.

3. Placed in Review: A verification specialist will review your account information further.

4. Denied: If you are denied, you will unfortunately not be able to play on PrizePicks. PrizePicks reserves the right to deny verification to anyone at its sole discretion. For security reasons, we will not be able to provide specific information to individuals regarding why they were denied.

What is Responsible Gaming?

Using the PrizePicks app is supposed to be fun! But sometimes, a hobby can turn into an unhealthy habit, and making sports and culture picks is no exception.

Whether your picks are correct or not, you might find yourself being drawn to try again without consideration of potential risks. The information on this page can help you stay aware of your habits and develop a plan to maintain control.

We want all PrizePicks Members to have a safe and enjoyable experience on our platform. That's why our app has built-in limits to safeguard you from depositing or submitting picks too much, or too often. We also require all Members to verify their age before creating an account. Anyone under the age of 18 will not be permitted to use PrizePicks, no matter what. If an eligible jurisdiction requires a higher age threshold, PrizePicks will honor the rules of that region. This means it may be possible for you to make picks in certain regions while being restricted in others.

We also provide customizable tools that allow you to take control of your experience, by making it easy to take a break if and when you need to.

We want to be clear: setting boundaries for yourself is not an indication that you have a problem. It's an effective way to make sure you don't develop habits that negatively affect your experience. We encourage you to explore the Responsible Gaming Tools and resources available in our app, and to make use of them as needed.

How can PrizePicks Members practice responsible gaming?

PrizePicks features several responsible gaming tools and resources to ensure a safe and secure DFS experience. This includes:

  • Alerts: Receive notifications if you go over your preselected daily, weekly, or monthly thresholds for lineup submissions.
  • Limits: Set self-imposed daily, weekly, or monthly deposit or play limits for at least 90 days.
  • Timeouts: Temporarily disable your ability to submit lineups or deposit funds for a period between 1 and 30 days.
  • Self-Exclusion: Temporarily disable all access to your account and block all marketing notifications for 30 days or more.

Timeout and Self-Exclusion Policy

  • Timeouts: You can take a break from PrizePicks for a minimum of 1 day and a maximum of 30 days. During this time, you won't be able to submit lineups or deposit funds, but you can still log in and withdraw funds.
  • Self-Exclusion: You can exclude yourself from PrizePicks for a set amount of time. The duration options are 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 5 years, or Lifetime. During this time, you won't be able to play or log in to your account. Self-exclusion and timeouts are important responsible gaming tools to protect your player health. If you're concerned about your gaming habits, these might be the right tools for you. We also encourage you to check out our Kindbridge Behavioral Health benefits available for free to all PrizePicks Members. Learn more here.
What is a Gaming Disorder?

Signs of problem gaming include playing for longer periods than intended, trying to cut back on gaming but not being able to, and losing interest in other activities.

Additional Information

Like many other addictions, problem play includes uncontrollable urges, which, if left unchecked, could result in financial hardship. Anyone could be susceptible to problem play regardless of age, gender, race, or financial status. However, once detected, problem play can be successfully treated. The key is early detection to avoid adverse consequences. If you feel you have a problem, we urge you to seek assistance. Learn more about resources available to you through our partnership with Kindbridge Behavioral Health

Problem-play warning signs include:

  • Playing more to recoup or chase previous losses.
  • Sacrificing time from family or work to participate in tournaments.
  • Repeated inability to stop or control participating.
  • Borrowing money to participate or to pay off previous losses.
  • Neglecting one’s family or oneself due to excessive play.
  • Lying or not being truthful about time or money lost to playing.
  • Selling or pawning personal property to play.
  • Feelings of hopelessness, depression, or suicide.

If you or someone you know is or may be experiencing a problem, remember that assistance, intervention, and treatment are available.

Resources that provide professional and compassionate service include:

How do I access the responsible gaming tools?

g into your account and look for the “Responsible Gaming” tab on the dropdown menu located in the top left corner of the PrizePicks app. If you are using the browser app, the dropdown menu is located in the top right corner instead or at the very bottom of the screen in the footer.

Can I permanently deactivate my PrizePicks account?

Yes, if you feel that playing PrizePicks is having a detrimental effect on your health and well-being, you can permanently deactivate your account. Scroll down to the Self-Exclusion section of the Responsible Gaming Tools and select "LIFETIME" from the dropdown menu.

If you choose to do this, you will not be able to reactivate your account or create a new account for any reason. If you want to delete your account for a reason unrelated to responsible gaming, please refer to instructions on the Deactivation page instead.

BetBlocker

BetBlocker is a free third-party tool designed to help you control your gaming by blocking access to nearly 15,000 gaming websites. It can be installed on as many devices as you would like, and you can customize the period of time you wish to block access (one day minimum, five years maximum). BetBlocker also offers a calendar-blocking functionality which allows you to block specific days of the week, month, or year.

What if I have unused funds left in my account when I self-exclude?

If you have funds left in your account, we recommend you withdraw them BEFORE you finalize your self-exclusion. You will not have access to your account once you submit your request.

If your self-exclusion has an end date (i.e., any selection other than LIFETIME), you will need to wait until the full period of time has elapsed before you can access your funds.

Can I edit or cancel my limit, timeout, or self-exclusion decision after I hit save?

No. For your protection, you may not edit or delete any responsible gaming limitations you initiate until the specified time period has passed.
