Pistons vs. Hawks: Preview, Pick
Time: 7:30 p.m. ET
How to Watch: NBA League Pass
Last season, the Pistons were one of the worst teams in NBA history as they went 14-68, and their 28-game losing streak is tied for the longest in league history.
This season has drastically changed. The young core is starting to develop, and they brought in some veterans to boost the roster.
It’s been a huge turnaround, as they are coming in 22-21, have won seven of their last ten, and have the No. 7 seed.
PG Cade Cunningham is putting himself in the conversation as an NBA star. He’s having his best season with a career-high 24.3 points per game, and his 9.3 assists are third.
The Hawks snuck into the Play-In tournament last year but were bounced in the first game. However, they currently have a playoff spot at No. 6, so things could be different this year.
PG Trae Young has been carrying this team for a long time, but the supporting cast is contributing, including F Jalen Johnson and F De'Andre Hunter, who are both averaging 19.4 points per game. It’s helped Young become more of a facilitator as his 11.7 assists per game.
Atlanta is one of the fastest-paced teams in the league and third in possessions per 48 minutes (104.1). They also do not play defense, which will help Detroit score.
Cunningham and Young will be the focus of each team's ball-spreading efforts, and we should see each grab a lot of dimes. Young is dealing with an Achilles injury, but he is expected to play in this game.
PrizePicks Projection to Consider: Pistons G Cade Cunningham 36.5 Pts+Asts — More / Hawks G Trae Young 36.5 Pts+Asts — More
Hornets vs. Grizzlies: Preview, Pick
Time: 8 p.m. ET
How to Watch: NBA League Pass
Last year was a horrendous season for the Grizzles, who finished 27-55. Injuries were a huge factor, and they never had their intended starting lineup, including Ja Morant, who only played nine games. Although Morant has missed time this season, everyone else has stepped up, and this is the best offense in the league, scoring 123.1 points per game.
The Hornets weren’t expected to be a contender, and judging by their 11-28 record, the predictions were correct. However, they might have some confidence coming into this game; after recently losing 16 of 17, they have now won four of five. I don’t know how much stock you can put in that, as only one of those wins was against a team above .500, which was the Luka Doncic-less Mavericks.
There is a huge difference between Memphis's top offense and the Hornets', who score 107.1 points per game (28th). Memphis’ lack of defense could make this a high-scoring game, but the Grizz should snap Charlotte’s three-game winning streak.
PrizePicks Projection to Consider: Grizzlies F Jaren Jackson Jr. 21.5 Points — More

NBA DFS Picks Today for PrizePicks
Here are three NBA DFS picks to put into your PrizePicks NBA Lineups for today, Wednesday, January 22.
Mavericks G Klay Thompson 2.5 3-PT Made — More
The Mavericks are doing their best to try and keep their heads above water as they wait for PG Luka Doncic to return, as he’s been out since Christmas Day. Since his absence, they are 3-9 and have dropped into the Play In Tournament at No. 7. They have a solid supporting cast, but Luka takes the pressure off, and his +12.2 on/off-court efficiency difference proves that.
SG Klay Thompson has been underwhelming in his first season in Dallas. He’s shooting a career-low 38% from three, and his 13.6 points per game are the lowest since his rookie season. Given all that, this is a good opportunity for him from behind the arch.
Minnesota has been getting torched from long range by shooting guards, which might have to do with the injury to Donte DiVincenzo. Opposing shooting guards have hit over their three-point projections in ten straight, and they’ve allowed the second-most made threes to the position in their last seven games (4.6).
Pistons F Tobias Harris 16.5 Pts+Asts — More
Let’s touch on another player pick between Detroit and Atlanta. PF Tobias Harris is one of those veterans the Pistons brought in to help evolve this team; while he isn’t having his best statistical season, he’s one of those players who is a strong presence on both sides of the court.
This is a good pick to take because he’s getting a generous total. He’s gone more than this projection in six of his last ten games and four of his previous five against the Hawks.
Cavs PG Darius Garland 6.5 Assists — More
The Cavs are back on track after their dismantling versus the Thunder last week, winning each of their last two games, including a 26-point win over the Suns on Monday.
Cavs continue to play at the sixth-highest pace in the NBA, which gives this team plenty of opportunities for high-scoring games. With a loaded roster, PG Darius Garland consistently has put himself in position to rack up assists.
Garland is averaging 7 assists per game in January, a slight tick up from his 6.8 assists per game on the season. He’s gone more than this assists number in seven of nine games in January, including three games with 9 assists in January.
