Super Bowl 2025: OL vs. DL Matchups
Games are won in the trenches, especially in the Super Bowl. Here’s a full look at the Super Bowl OL vs. DL matchups to target for NFL DFS on PrizePicks.
Eagles OL vs. Chiefs DL
The Philadelphia Eagles hold a clear advantage along the offensive line when facing the Kansas City Chiefs. LT Jordan Mailata leads all 81 NFL tackles in overall grade, via PFF, having played 800 snaps with just one sack and 14 total pressures allowed. The 6-foot-8 Australian has shown Hall of Fame potential at the position. On the right side, tackle Lane Johnson ranks fifth out of 81 tackles, per PFF. In over 900 snaps, he has yet to surrender a single sack, allowing only 10 pressures.
The interior is anchored by Landon Dickerson, who sits fourth among 77 guards in blocking grade, via PFF. Despite battling injuries, he has amassed 1,000 snaps and yielded just five sacks and 27 quarterback pressures. One of Philadelphia’s most impactful offseason acquisitions was signing former first-round pick Mekhi Becton. In more than 900 snaps at right guard, Becton has allowed just three sacks and 25 pressures.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ defensive line appears to be one of the weaker units on a roster otherwise brimming with talent. DE Mike Danna has produced only 22 pressures and four sacks in over 500 snaps, ranking him 68th out of 119 qualifying edge rushers, per PFF. Other starting DE George Karlaftis is the strength in the pass rush, but he ranks just 33rd in pass-rush productivity among defensive ends with at least 310 snaps, and 21st in QB hurries.
Meanwhile, Charles Omenihu (55th of 119 defensive ends) has just one sack in his 200-plus snaps. Although Chris Jones remains the Chiefs’ best defender up front, his six sacks in over 700 snaps place him outside the top 15 among interior linemen.
Eagles DL vs. Chiefs OL
Philadelphia’s defensive line — while not particularly threatening — may have an advantage against a Chiefs offensive line that has had to shuffle pieces around, leaving some holes exposed.
Chiefs RT Jawaan Taylor ranks 62nd among 81 tackles, per PFF, and is notorious for penalties, having committed 17 this season while allowing 37 pressures. LG Mike Caliendo, an undrafted fill-in, sits at 72nd out of 77 guards, conceding seven pressures in just 300 snaps. Through the Playoffs, Caliendo has looked like the Chiefs’ main vulnerability on the line, giving up six pressures over two games.
Veteran Joe Thuney has shifted out to left tackle, where he’ll contend with rookie edge rusher Nolan Smith, one of the fastest in the league. Smith ranks 25th among 119 defensive ends, per PFF, tallying 31 pressures and seven sacks in his first year — a looming threat for the Chiefs’ reconfigured offensive line.
Super Bowl Touchdown Scorer Trends
Here are two of the touchdown scorer trends for the Super Bowl. You can pick touchdown scorers on PrizePicks by choosing more or less on their Rush+Rec TD projection, and cash it if they score a rushing or receiving TD.
Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes leaned on his legs against Buffalo in the AFC Championship, rushing for 43 yards and two touchdowns. Notably, in his last two matchups against the Eagles in 2023, he surpassed his 28.5-yard rushing projection for the Super Bowl both times with 44 and 38 yards, respectively.
Mahomes has averaged 7.25 rushes for 43 yards in his four Super Bowl appearances, including rushing nine times for 66 yards against the 49ers last year. However, he only has one rushing touchdown in those Super Bowl games.
While Philadelphia boasts a formidable defense, the Eagles rank just outside the top 10 in rushing yards allowed to quarterbacks.

Eagles RB Saquon Barkley
![Super Bowl TD Scorer Trends](https://cdn.prod.website-files.com/64da5279f1559b26fb07550e/67a68eafc6911f91f50e26e8_AD_4nXdQDt__HRCVeBnx42LmusV0LB2uVIkqmA6sTdb2sZxWHd2zhhc8FGLXVUc8b75c2x8N11tjW6SgWewf-DLWWao4o5Mb6ysWen67enCvjNAUXoGSta9r33DsBLUGgkgTo0ioPEj_1w.png)
Eagles RB Saquon Barkley is coming off one of the most remarkable seasons by an NFL running back. Despite forfeiting the rushing title to avoid injury, he enters the Super Bowl at full strength.
Barkley’s rushing-yard projection of 112.5 yards has been exceeded in each of his last five contests, including playoff performances of 118 yards vs. Washington, 205 vs. Los Angeles, and 119 vs. Green Bay, and two games of 150 rush yards to close out the regular season.
The Eagles’ game plan hinges significantly on Barkley’s success on the ground. Given his season average of 129 rushing yards per game and a 58% rate of surpassing 112.5 yards this year, this is his chance to shine on the NFL’s biggest stage.
Super Bowl Player Snap Count Trends
Here are some noteworthy workloads from key players that can indicate their Super Bowl participation based on recent trends.
Chiefs RBs Isiah Pacheco vs. Kareem Hunt
Despite serving as the primary running back earlier in the season (logging 40+ carries across Weeks 1 and 2), Isiah Pacheco’s snap counts dropped considerably upon his return in Weeks 13-16, down to the mid-20s. In the playoffs (Weeks 20 and 21), Pacheco hasn’t even approached 20 snaps per game. Consequently, Pacheco’s rushing attempts and yardage have declined. Kareem Hunt is the clear RB1 for the Chiefs heading into the Super Bowl.
Chiefs WRs DeAndre Hopkins vs. Hollywood Brown
DeAndre Hopkins has also seen his usage dip during the Playoffs, recording only 16 and 12 snaps in Weeks 20 and 21 — far below the 30 to 40 snaps he played from Weeks 13 through 17. In his place, WR Hollywood Brown has benefited, setting season highs with 34 and 43 snaps in his last two outings after returning from injury. Brown should continue to run above Hopkins in this game, though the veteran Hopkins may still play a key presence in the Chiefs’ offense with his sure hands — Hopkins has a 70.4% catch rate compared to Brown’s 54.5%.

Eagles RBs Saquon Barkley vs. Kenneth Gainwell/Will Shipley
Saquon Barkley has taken on a greater workload in the postseason, posting 50, 57, and 52 snaps — higher than many of his regular-season totals. His workload indicates that he’s handling the heavy majority of touches. Eagles backup RB Will Shipley saw seven snaps (nearly a season high) in the NFC Championship as the game turned to a blowout.
With RB Kenneth Gainwell listed as questionable (but expected to play) entering the game, we could see the Eagles continue to feed Barkley throughout this game and keep their star on the field, as has been the case in the Playoffs.
Eagles WRs Johnny Wilson vs. Jahan Dotson
Eagles WR Johnny Wilson appears to be the odd man out of the Eagles WRs, playing only six and eight snaps in Weeks 19 and 20, while Jahan Dotson has progressed steadily throughout the year, topping 40 snaps in every playoff contest. Dotson is the Eagles’ clear WR3 for the Playoffs, though he hasn’t had a target over the last two games.
Eagles TEs Dallas Goedert vs. Grant Calcaterra
Eagles TE Dallas Goedert has been key for the Eagles in the Playoffs, with at least 47 yards in all three games, including a 7-reception, 85-yard game in the NFC Championship against the Commanders. That’s come at the expense of backup TE Grant Calcaterra, who has run just 13 routes over the last two games — his lowest two-game sequence for route participation this season.
