Commanders vs. Eagles: Championship Round Preview, Where to Watch
Date: Sunday, January 26, 2025
Time: 3 p.m. ET
Location: Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, Pa.
Where to Watch: FOX
There isn’t a more perfect storyline other than the rookie phenom Jayden Daniels playing a divisional rival for a chance at a Super Bowl. The Washington Commanders (12-5) travel to Philadelphia to face the #2 Philadelphia Eagles (14-3).
The Commanders come in hot after knocking off the top-seeded Detroit Lions in quite dominant fashion, forcing Jared Goff to have one of his worst games of his season and moving the ball with ease against a Lions defense that declined as the season progressed.
The Eagles on the other hand escaped a close one against the Los Angeles Rams thanks to an impressive effort by RB Saquon Barkley and the defense.
This game is filled with many stars on both sides, allowing you many opportunities to cash in real money on PrizePicks while enjoying this exciting matchup of the NFC’s best. By combining the picks below, you can reach a 6.5x payout on PrizePicks!
Free Pick: Commanders QB Jayden Daniels 0.5 Pass Yards

Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. 9.5 Rush Attempts — More
Although the Eagles have a top 10 rush defense, the key to the Commanders winning this game is going to be controlling the time of possession. In attempting to do so, look for the them to try and establish the run game, whether its with Brian Robinson Jr or Austin Ekeler, as the Eagles have the No. 1 ranked passing defense. The Commanders can comfortably run it on early downs because they are sixth-best in the league at converting third downs (45.5%) — as they convert 5.8 third downs per game — and the best in the league at fourth down conversions, at an astounding 81.3%.
This projection seems easy to cash, as Robinson has had 10 carries in all but three games while averaging 13.25 carries a game. Washington also has the fifth-highest rushing play percentage in the NFL at 48.35%.
This game has the makings of a slow grind it out type of game, especially as both of these teams have seen each other twice already this year, so expect a lot of rushing attempts for both teams.
Eagles TE Dallas Goedert 42.5 Receiving Yards — More
Editor’s note: Goedert’s receiving yard projection has steadily increased this week, as we continue to get clarity on the health of his ankle. Goedert practiced on Friday after missing the prior two days, and told media that he will play in the NFC Championship Game.
Eagles TE Dallas Goedert has had a rough season, missing games due to injury and being the fourth option on a powerful offense. In recent weeks, Goedert has proven to be a reliable target for Hurts after a lack of production from WR A.J. Brown in the playoffs.
The Commanders have the fifth-ranked passing defense in the NFL, but they’ve also had a weak strength of schedule. Additionally, a lot of the focus will be on Barkley and stuffing the box with defenders to stop him, as Barkley burned this defense in both of the previous matchups.
With an increased blitz rate and CB Marshon Lattimore shadowing Brown on the outside all game, look for Philadelphia to utilize play action passes to target Goedert and Grant Calcaterra. Hurts’ recent knee injury could prove to limit his mobility forcing him to find quick passes.
The Commanders also allow nearly 10 yards per reception to tight ends, and Goedert has 4 or more receptions in 67% of his games this season.
In addition to Goedert, Eagles WR DeVonta Smith has an advantageous matchup in the slot, which we wrote about in the NFL DFS Cheat Sheet for the Conference Championships.
TD Scorer Pick: Eagles RB Saquon Barkley (Goblin)
This pick might easily be the most chosen pick in both conference championship games, as seen by the flames symbol next to Barkley’s name. In general, Barkley is going to be the focus for NFL DFS in this game, as he’s on a tear and has already crushed this defense twice this season.
Although Barkley has only scored a touchdown in 9 of his 18 games, he is going to have to carry this team here. Throughout the season, the Eagles relied heavily on the league’s rushing yards leader and he very likely would’ve passed Eric Dickerson single-season rushing record if he played in Week 18.
With lingering issues to Hurts’ knee, Brown’s ankle and now Dallas Goedert’s ankle, the Eagles will surely rely on Barkley again. The Commanders also had the third-worst rushing defense this season, giving up 4.8 yards per carry. According to PFF, the Eagles have the best offensive line in football, which should be able to make plenty of room for Barkley up front.
You can also take Barkley to score two touchdowns as a Demon projection, which boosts your Payout on PrizePicks Barkley to score two touchdowns was one of our NFC Championship touchdown scorer predictions.
NFC Championship Prediction: Eagles 23, Commanders 20
This game will be a nail-biter as divisional matchups typically are, especially this late in the season. I expect both defenses to come out with more intensity than normal, as there is more at stake. The Eagles have the overall better team, and they’re rightfully the favorite.
However, Jayden Daniels has miraculously beat some of the best teams in the NFL, including the Lions last week.
I believe this game will mainly come down to special teams as Eagles kicker Jake Elliot has had problems with missed extra points and field goals. Commanders kicker Zane Gonzalez has also shown signs of struggling, even after doinking in the game-winning field goal in the Wild Card Round. I see Elliot and Gonzalez both missing a kick this week.
Outside of special teams, the Eagles will control time of possession with their run game. As stated before, the Eagles offensive line is too dominant against this weak rushing defense. Saquon Barkley will have a huge game and ultimately pass Terrell Davis for the most yards in a single season (regular season + playoffs).
Give me the Eagles to advance to the Super Bowl for a chance at revenge against the Kansas City Chiefs.
