Eagles vs. Packers: Week 1 NFL Friday Night Football DFS Picks for PrizePicks

Packers RB Josh Jacobs: 2.5 receptions — MORE

The Packers enter this game thin at running back. They signed Josh Jacobs to replace Aaron Jones — who went to the NFC North-rival Vikings, but their options behind Jacobs for Week 1 leave a lot to be desired.

AJ Dillon (neck) has already been ruled out for the season and rookie MarShawn Lloyd is battling a hamstring injury and didn’t practice on Tuesday. Lloyd was estimated as limited on Wednesday and did travel to Brazil, but even if he plays, it should leave Jacobs with a hefty workload.

Jacobs produced two seasons with the Raiders in which he finished with at least 53 receptions. The Packers relied heavily on Jones in the passing game last year, leaving him with at least three receptions in six of the 11 games that he played.

With how often that Jacobs should be on the field in this game, hauling in at least three receptions should be a breeze.

Packers QB Jordan Love: 6.5 rushing yards — MORE

Jalen Hurts is certainly the quarterback that is known more for his rushing prowess in this matchup. However, Jordan Love is no statue in the pocket. He finished with 247 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 50 rushing attempts last year.

In his 17 games in 2023, Love finished with at least seven rushing yards 10 times.

The Eagles didn’t struggle against the run last season, allowing the 10th-fewest rushing yards per game in the league. However, they allowed 5.3 yards per carry to opposing quarterbacks, which was the second-highest mark. Given this modest projection, more than is the way to go.

Demon Pick: Josh Jacobs: 0.5 rushing + receiving touchdowns — MORE

The lack of options behind Jacobs on the Packers’ depth chart also makes this an interesting projection. Jacobs has scored at least nine touchdowns in every season in which he has played at least 15 games. In two separate seasons, he finished with 12 rushing touchdowns.

Jones and Dillon combined for 17 carries inside the five-yard line last year — which would rank fifth among running backs. If the Packers get in close, expect Jacobs to get his opportunity to reach the end zone.

Note: Demon picks add a payout boost to your lineup on PrizePicks, as they are more difficult projections to hit.

Goblin Pick: WR A.J. Brown: 49.5 receiving yards — MORE

This isn’t the easiest of matchups for Brown since the Packers gave up the ninth-fewest passing yards per game in the league last year. However, Brown has never averaged lower than 13.7 yards per reception for a season in his career. Last year, he finished with at least 50 receiving yards in 13-of-17 games. With his target share and big-play upside, this feels like a gift.

Note: Goblin picks reduce your payout on PrizePicks, as they are easier projections to hit.

Eagles vs. Packers Injury Report: Week 1

The Eagles are nearly fully healthy according to their final estimated injury report. They will only be missing starting linebacker Devin White (ankle), who did not travel.

Packers are a big more banged up. As mentioned above, Lloyd was listed as limited and is in question for Friday. In addition, RB Emanuel Wilson (hip)was listed as limited. Lloyd and Wilson are the only running backs on the roster behind Jacobs, which means both should be expected to be active.

Lastly, WR Romeo Doubs (hand) was limited but said he was able to practice as expected on Tuesday despite the designation. TE Tucker Kraft (back) was added to the estimated injury report and may be on a snap count. The Packers have Luke Musgrave listed as their TE1.

Game Prediction: Eagles 28, Packers 24

The Packers are an up-and-coming team with talented youth throughout the roster. They are especially deep at wide receiver with Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, and Dontayvion Wicks all in the fold, but no clear No. 1. The veteran Jacobs should also prove to be a key addition at running back.

Despite all of the Packers’ talent on offense, the Eagles are still the team to pick in this matchup.

They are also deep at wide receiver and have better top-end talent at the position with Brown and DeVonta Smith. With Saquon Barkley now in the backfield, he and Hurts can provide a lot of headaches on the ground for opposing defenses. Their defense also has the potential to be improved this year with Vic Fangio taking over as their defensive coordinator.
