Running Backs and Contract Disputes
As we’ve gotten used to in recent years, the NFL’s top running backs are getting little respect and little money from owners. Stars like Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs, and Jonathan Taylor have all shared their frustrations with the current market for veteran RB contracts.
We’ve heard it before, running backs age quickly and lose value. But they rarely get paid fairly for the value they deliver on their first and second contracts. Jonathan Taylor requested a trade from the Colts this offseason after tensions between Taylor and Colts owner, Jim Irsay, escalated.
Irsay claims Taylor isn’t as crucial to the Colts’ success as Taylor believes. While the concern of spending too much on a veteran RB is valid, Taylor is one of the only reasons the Colts have won anything in recent years. Unfortunately for running backs, that seems to be the state of their market.
Aaron Rodgers Moves to the New York Jets
After years of flirting with the idea of leaving Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers finally made the move this offseason and landed in New York. Rodgers, age 39, joins a squad of young and hopeful talent but will have to be a serious leader if he hopes to make any real noise in the stacked AFC this year.
Coach Saleh and the rest of the organization seem more than excited to have the future hall-of-famer in their locker room despite his declining performances over the past few seasons. All eyes will be on the veteran QB this season as he leads the Jets in the hectic NYC market.

Fantasy Score
Jalen Hurts - QB, PHI
Despite losing a close game in the super bowl, Hurts put up major numbers last season and is poised to do the same this year. While the hangover from a super bowl loss can be real, Hurts doesn’t show any signs of slowing down or taking a step backwards this season.
Last season, Jalen earned nearly 4,000 yards through the air and over 750 on the ground. The dual-threat QB will surely be looking to top that and lead his team back to the big game in February. Look for Hurts to come out swinging in week one.

Rush Yards
Derrick Henry - RB, TEN
With all the offseason drama between running backs and front office staff, now it’s time for the players to show why they deserve the big checks. Derrick Henry has been a monster in fantasy and on the field in recent years.
Henry is currently projected to rush for the most yards out of anyone on the board. After rushing for over 1,500 yards and 13 TDs last year, it’s no surprise. A healthy Derrick Henry is a scary sight for any defense.

Completions in First 10 Pass Attempts
Patrick Mahomes - QB, KC
Efficiency is everything in the NFL. At the quarterback position, it’s no different. Patrick Mahomes is the perfect balance between electric highlights and robot-like efficiency.
Travis Kelce, Mahomes’ favorite target won’t be on the field with Patrick in week one due to an injury, but that shouldn’t slow down Mahomes. Andy Reid is sure draw up a few plays to let the 2x MVP shine and stay consistent.

Pass TDs
Dak Prescott - QB, DAL
Another interesting storyline developing this season- Dak Prescott finds himself on the hot seat entering the 2023 season as Dallas signed QB Trey Lance this offseason to back up Dak. After sustaining a few injuries and only achieving moderate regular season success, Dak will have to deliver this season if he wants to remain a Cowboy.
In week one Dak is projected at 1.5 passing TDs. Last season he averaged just under 2 per game. Dallas takes on a hungry New York Giants squad on Sunday. Prescott and crew will need a big performance to kick off the season right.
