Cam Skattebo NFL Draft Profile, Projection, & NFL Comparison
It’s officially NFL Draft month. From April 24 to 26, every NFL team will be adding fresh new rookies to their roster. One of the top names that will be drafted at the running back position is Cam Skattebo, who burst onto the national scene in the College Football Playoff
Skattebo had a great senior season for the Arizona State Sun Devils, and led the team to a quarterfinal appearance in the College Football Playoffs. He was second in the FBS in total rushing yards, and was right behind Heisman finalist Ashton Jeanty.
While Jeanty has generated top 10 buzz, it's very well likely that Skattebo will not be selected in the first round. However, a team in the second or mid rounds will take a chance on the physical running back, which will only add more depth and versatility.
We will break down everything you need to know about Cam Skattebo in his 2025 NFL Draft profile, including his draft pick projection, stats, combine performance, strengths, and more
Let's dive into Cam Skattebo’s NFL Draft Profile.

Cam Skattebo Game To Watch
Skattebo had an all-around great season, but the game that sticks out the most was his performance in the quarterfinal of the College Football Playoffs on a national stage.
January 1, 2025 – Arizona State vs. Texas
Though Arizona State would ultimately end up losing in a double-overtime thriller, Skattebo was the only reason the Sun Devils kept the game close, as they came in as huge underdogs. Skattebo greatly improved his draft stock in his final collegiate game, leading the Sun Devils back from 16 points down with only minutes left in the game.
Skattebo was unbelievable in the game, finishing with 284 all-purpose yards. He ran for 143 rushing yards and scored two rushing touchdowns, and adding 8 receptions for 99 yards. He also had a 42-yard passing touchdown and a two-point conversion that tied that game at 24-24.

Cam Skattebo: Strengths
- Very physical player who isn’t afraid of contact and always trying to get an extra yard.
- A good straight-forward runner, who’s patient and finds open gaps well to run through.
- Incredible at finding yards after contact at the college level.
- Has versatility as both a runner and receiver. Had his best receiving year as a running back last season with 45 catches (second on the team), and also showcased his abilities in the quarterfinal game against Texas with eight catches.
- Uses his strength to his advantage, which makes him of great use for goal line scoring opportunities and getting extra yards for first downs.
Cam Skattebo: Weaknesses
- He isn’t the greatest athlete, lacks straight-line speed when running the football, as seen by his 4.65 40-yard dash time at his Pro Day.
- Doesn’t have the kind of agility and lateral quickness where he can move from left to right quickly when avoiding defenders.
- He isn’t the fastest player on the field, and will have to rely on his other intangibles.
- Scouts question whether his physical play style in college will translate against higher competition.
- Harsh running style makes him more injury prone.
Cam Skattebo NFL Comparison: Alfred Morris
When thinking of running backs who aren’t necessarily the greatest athletes with speed and athleticism, but still made impact on the field due to their relentless style of running and using their strength, Alfred Morris comes to mind when finding a comparison for Skattebo.
Morris had some great years in the NFL, as he was a sixth-round pick that ended up being a two-time Pro Bowler for Washington. Morris was known as a tough runner out of FAU that fought through contact by keeping his legs moving — very similar to how Skattebo runs.
However, Skattebo has the opportunity to potentially be even better, as he’s a better receiving back than Morris, who never had more than 17 catches in a season. Skattebo’s ability in the passing game is going to be key for his draft stock, as it gives him more of a dimension to his game, plus can still be pivotal on the run.
Skattebo NFL Draft Projection: What Round Will Skattebo Go?
At this point, it’s likely that the only running back that will get selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft will be Ashton Jeanty. However, most draft boards have at least four other running backs ahead of him, including Omarion Hampton, TreVeyon Henderson, and Quinshon Judkins.
It’s a loaded running back class, which could lead to a run on the position, or give teams the ability to wait to get their guy. As far as Cam Skattebo is concerned, it can go a bunch of different ways.
Skattebo could go as early as the second round of the draft — it all depends on team needs and where teams rank him. He may not be an RB1 to begin next season, but he will provide great depth and skill set for any team that decides to draft him.
Many teams have a huge need at running back, including the Raiders, Steelers, Broncos, and Cowboys. With any of them, Skattebo would immediately step into snaps.
It will be interesting to see where he ultimately lands in the draft, as he could go as early as the second route or as late as the fifth if he really slides.
