College Football Bowls Today: December 27

- Birmingham Bowl: Georgia Tech (7-5) @ Vanderbilt (6-6) — 3:30 p.m. ET
- Liberty Bowl: Texas Tech (8-4) @ Arkansas (6-6) — 7 p.m. ET

Navy QB Blake Horvath 188.5 Pass+Rush Yards — More
Time: 12 p.m. ET
Oklahoma is a better team this year, but the Sooner had mass departures on each side of the ball. Overall, this was a disappointing season for the Sooners, who were hoping to compete in their inaugural year in the SEC but instead finished 6-6.
This is why you must love Navy as the underdog, especially coming off a big win against their rival Army. In that matchup, QB Blake Horvath went off with 107 passing yards, two touchdowns, with 207 rushing yards, and two more touchdowns. He’ll start again in the Armed Forces Bowl.
Navy will use the triple option, and this type of offense will catch the inexperienced Oklahoma defense off guard. We could see Horvath put up big numbers against a defense that isn’t ready for the Navy attack.
Oklahoma QB Michael Hawkins 152.5 Passing Yards — Less
Time: 12 p.m. ET
It was a disappointing season for the Sooners, as they did not look ready to be in the SEC. They were lucky enough to be bowl-eligible, but went 2-6 in the conference.
A big reason for this regression is the loss of QB Dillion Gabriel; his transfer dropped this team from one of the best passing teams to 123rd this year in passing yards per game (157.5).
Like a lot of players on this roster, QB Jackson Arnold has opted out, so it's Michael Hawkins taking the snaps under center. Hawkins did start some games, but he was unsuccessful, finishing with under 200 passing yards in each of his three starts and averaging 2.8 yards per rush.
We’ll target the passing because Navy has struggled against the run. Navy is 24th in PFF coverage grade (88.9) but 38th in PFF run defense (86.1). This is a game that will be settled in the trenches with how these two teams play.
Georgia Tech QB Haynes King 251.5 Pass+Rush Yards — More
Start Time: 3:30 p.m. ET
Georgia Tech was a fun team to watch. It started in Week 0 when it beat Florida State, coming off an undefeated year; then it capped it by challenging Georgia in an eight-overtime thriller.
This is a dynamic offense led by King under center. He’s one of the most exciting dual-threat quarterbacks in the country, and this year, he had 11 passing and rushing touchdowns.
Vanderbilt was another exciting team to watch as they played close games against some of the country’s best, including a win against No. 1 Alabama. The Commodores played some high-scoring games, so this could turn into a back-and-forth game with a ton of scoring, especially with Vanderbilt being 88th in total yards allowed per game (402.6).
We’ll see King display all of these abilities in this matchup against a defense that has been exposed against top teams this year.
Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia 0.5 Pass TDs — More (Goblin)
Time: 3:30 p.m ET
On the other side, you have to love what Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia has accomplished this season. After an outstanding 2023 season at New Mexico State, he came to Vanderbilt, took a previous 2-10 team, and improved them to 6-6.
He will also be able to keep Georgia Tech on their toes. The Yellow Jackets will have to defend the pass while keeping a spy to prevent Pavia from gaining big yards on the ground.
The Yellow Jackets’ defense is much better than last year, especially at the line of scrimmage, but they still allowed an average of three touchdowns per game (66th). Pavia has thrown a touchdown in 10-of-12 games. Going against another quarterback who can run and pass, he’ll have to keep up and air it out.

Arkansas QB Taylen Green 253.5 Pass+Rush Yards — Less
Time: 7 p.m. ET
If this is your first time watching Green play, take this with a grain of salt. Every important skill player for Arkansas is either injured or has hit the transfer portal, so he’ll be playing without most of his starting offensive line and starting running back in his top procedures. Texas Tech also has a lot of players opting out of this game, including coaches, as their offensive coordinator took the head coaching job at Florida Atlantic, and they fired their defensive coordinator.
The Red Raiders still had a solid pass rush, and the defense was 36th in the country in EPA per play allowed (-0.048). With an inexperienced Razorback offensive line, you’ll see Green get flushed out of the pocket, and even though he is the type of quarterback that can take off, you’ll see a lot of sacks and tackles for loss.
Syracuse QB Kyle McCord 349.5 Passing Yards — More (Demon)
Time: 8 p.m. ET
It was an interesting decision for QB Kyle McCord to go from a national championship contender at Ohio State to Syracuse. Still, he was fantastic this season, with his 4,326 passing yards leading the FBS, which helped Syracuse finish 9-3.
This could be his final audition before entering the NFL Draft, but he is appealing his recent denial of being allowed an additional year of eligibility from the NCAA.
Washington State has players on each side of the ball opting out of this game, but this defense has been awful against the pass all season, allowing 257.5 passing yards per game (115th). The Cougars will be missing their starting quarterback, so that could tilt this game heavily to the Syracuse side.
With it being the last game of the year, don’t expect them to get conservative with a significant lead, so McCord should be throwing all day in an advantageous matchup.
