Travis Hunter, Shedeur Sanders, Jaxson Dart, and Ashton Jeanty are headlining the rumors going into draft night.

As the Draft Nears, Top Trade Rumors to Watch

Unlike years past, there is a ton of talk about teams moving out of the top five picks, which could give us a thrilling first hour of the draft.

ESPN's Adam Schefter said to expect "explosive" trades tonight.

Here’s a quick list of the key draft rumors we’re tracking, as of 6:45 p.m. ET, which you can find more details on below.

• The Jaguars (pick 5) are looking to trade for pick No. 2 for Travis Hunter.
• The Bears (pick 10) are looking to move up to No. 5 to draft RB Ashton Jeanty.
• Regardless of who picks at two, Travis Hunter is assumed to be the No. 2 pick.
• The Giants are looking to make a move to draft QB Jaxson Dart, who they prefer over Shedeur Sanders, by trading back into the first round.
• The Steelers remain the favorite to draft QB Shedeur Sanders at pick No. 21.

Steelers Could Trade Up for QB in Day 2

While the Steelers are still seen as the most likely team to draft Shedeur Sanders in the first round tonight, they may not be trying to pick him tonight with their No. 21 pick.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Steelers could look to trade up for a QB in Round 2 on Friday. The Steelers have hosted Sanders, Louisville QB Tyler Shough, and Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart for pre-draft visits. However, Dart is expected to be selected in the first round tonight.

Jaxson Dart to Giants Talk “Not Slowing Down”

As we move closer to the start of the draft, the Giants have continued to be linked to Jaxson Dart. While they won’t take Dart with the No. 3 pick, it’s possible that we could see them trade down once they go on the clock.

Draft Rumor: Broncos Targeting RB TreVeyon Henderson

It's consensus that Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty will be the first running back off the board — whether that's to the Bears, Jaguars, or another team is yet to be seen.

However, ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio is reporting that multiple other running backs could come off the board in the first round tonight. Most notably, the Broncos are targeting Ohio State RB TreVeyon Henderson with the No. 20 pick, while the Steelers are eyeing North Carolina RB Omarion Hampton with the No. 21 pick.

However, the Broncos are also reportedly looking at trading up in the draft, as opposed to most teams looking to trade down.

There are many teams in the mix to add a running back tonight or throughout the draft. That's convenient, considering this is running back class is especially loaded with talent. The most interesting aspect is when we'll start to see a run on the running backs.

The First Draft Day Trade is in

The first Draft day trade is in the books between the Browns and Texans… and it is incredibly underwhelming.

The Browns gave up two sixth-picks and a seventh-round pick for the Texans’ 2025 fifth-round pick and 2027 fifth-round pick.

Why? Who knows. But the Browns have been in trade talks and are looking to add more middle-round picks. Maybe this was the missing piece. Or maybe it doesn’t matter at all. 

Trade Rumor: Browns Could Trade Pick No. 2

The No. 2 draft pick tonight just got interesting.

We’ve heard reports that Browns are listening to offers for the No. 2 pick. We’ve also heard that the Jaguars are working a deal to get into that spot.

Now, we have more clarity from The Athletic’s NFL Insider Dianna Russini, who reports that Browns GM Andrew Barry is actively listening to offers to move a few spots back.

The Browns could be looking to add a few extra early picks in this year’s draft, forgoing the option to draft CB/WR Travis Hunter — a decision that would shock the world.

Jaxson Dart to be Drafted Before Shedeur Sanders

It seems that no player’s stock has risen higher than Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart in the last 24 hours, while Shedeur Sanders has continued to fall.

Most recently, NFL insider Jeff Howe reported that Dart could be the second QB off the board tonight — ahead of Sanders. The teams in the race for Dart? Giants, Saints, Rams, and Steelers.

According to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, there’s “not a chance in hell” that Dart will make it out of the first round. He could even go in the top 10 picks.

CBS reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala predicted earlier today that Dart will not fall past the Saints at pick No. 9. It is well known that the Saints are not targeting Sanders with their first-round pick. If not, it's possible the Giants will trade up into the first round to get Dart, who they prefer over Sanders.

Trade Rumor: Jaguars Trading up for Travis Hunter?

One of the most surprising trade rumors has come from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, who reported that the Jaguars are plotting to move up to No. 2 overall to draft Colorado CB/WR Travis Hunter.

“It's not done, and I don't think anything will be done until they're on the clock,” Rapoport said today. “And I don't even know if the Browns are gonna do it. But the Jaguars are, at least, plotting.”

Even though it’s only three spots up, it would likely take major draft capital — potentially even a future first-round pick — for the Jaguars to move up.

It has been rumored that the Browns are fielding offers for the No. 2 pick. Browns CB Greg Newsome and EDGE Ogbo Okoronkwo are believed to be available for trade, per FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz.

As of now, without a trade, the Browns are expected to take Hunter and deploy him mostly at wide receiver.

Trade Rumor: Bears Have Trade “In Place” to Move Up

Early morning reports from Bears insider Ben Devine said the Bears have a trade in place to move up in the draft. It appears that move could be to draft RB Ashton Jeanty, who was believed to be a favorite for the Jacksonville Jaguars at pick No. 5 yesterday.

The Bears currently have the No. 10 pick and have reportedly had their eyes on Jeanty. But drafting him from there would require he slides through the Jaguars, Raiders, and Jets — who are reportedly shopping RB Breece Hall.

Steelers HC Tomlin Showing Confidence in Shedeur Sanders

The Steelers look like the most likely team to draft Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders heading into the draft on Thursday night. That said, it’s still one of the biggest unknowns of the draft, as there is a chance a team could trade back into the first round to leap above the Steelers, who hold the No. 21 pick.

But one question remains for the Steelers and Sanders: does HC Mike Tomlin believe that Sanders is the guy for their future?

Here’s what Tomlin said about Sanders in the Steelers’ pre-draft press conference.

“There’s a toughness there that doesn’t get talked about enough,” Tomlin said. “There’s a competitive spirit there that doesn’t get talked about enough. I know he’s very talented and he’s made a lot of plays for his university and his team. But the intangible qualities displayed on tape were impressive to me.”

Trade Rumor: Broncos Fielding Calls for No. 20 Pick

The Broncos are reportedly taking calls for their No. 20 pick — one spot above the Steelers. Teams are reportedly offering a three-pick package for the No. 20 pick, according to Woody Paige of the Colorado Springs Gazette. 

If that’s the case, Sanders is likely the player that teams will be targeting there, preventing the Steelers from drafting him. 

Trade Rumor: Jets RB Breece Hall is Available in Trade

Many players will go on the trade block today, as teams look to move up or down in the draft. One of the most notable appears to be Jets RB Breece Hall.

Hall was a second-round pick in 2022, but hasn’t yet rushed for 1,000 rushing yards in a season. After showing explosiveness in 2022 and 2023, he averaged just 4.2 yards per carry in 2024 — partly due to the dysfunction of the Jets offense and a split backfield with 2024 fourth-round pick Braelon Allen.

There a handful of teams could be calling about Hall. The question is, what are the Jets looking for in return?

Giants, Browns Interested in Jaxson Dart

The Giants were linked heavily to Shedeur Sanders leading up to the draft. That said, on NFL Live, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said the Giants out on Sanders at pick No. 3 — which is no surprise.

However, some reports are surfacing that both the Giants and Browns — two of the teams tagged as potential QB destinations — have Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart ranked above Sanders.

ESPN’s Dan Graziano reported that the Giants prefer Dart over Sanders as their top QB after soon-to-be No. 1 pick Cam Ward. Meanwhile, ESPN’s Jordan Raanan said the Giants and Browns both like Dart and are candidates to trade into the Broncos spot at No. 20.
