Texas Tech vs. Florida: Preview, Pick

Time: 6:09 p.m. ET
How to Watch: TBS

3-seed Texas Tech (28-8) looks to become the first team to knock off a 1-seed when it faces Florida (33-4) in Saturday night’s West Regional final.

Grant McCasland’s Texas Tech Red Raiders flew under the radar a bit this season but are now in the spotlight after a stunning 16-point second-half comeback and overtime win over Arkansas in the Round of 16.

Big 12 Player of the Year and second-team All-American JT Toppin leads the Red Raiders, averaging 18.2 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. The Red Raiders boast the nation’s fifth-ranked offense (KenPom) and have recorded marquee wins over BYU, Arizona, and fellow regional finalist Houston.

Led by third-year coach Todd Golden, the Florida Gators enter the regional finals with one of the nation’s most balanced offensive attacks. All-American Walter Clayton Jr. (KenPom’s third highest-rated player), senior Will Richard (13.5 PPG) and FAU transfer Alijah Martin headline a Gators team that won nine of its last 10 regular-season games before defeating Tennessee in the SEC Tournament.

Florida averages 85.5 points per game — ranking fourth nationally — and carries KenPom’s second-ranked offense into this matchup.

Here are a few key stats to help you make your DFS picks for Saturday’s tournament matchup on PrizePicks:

  • Texas Tech F JT Toppin averages 18.2 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. The sophomore is involved in 29.9% of possessions (55th nationally) and ranks among the most efficient rebounders, posting a 13.7% offensive rebound rate and a 26.3% defensive rebound rate (21st in the nation), per KenPom.
  • Florida G Alijah Martin is averaging 14.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.2 made 3-pointers per game this season.
  • Martin is shooting the deep ball with confidence, making at least two 3-pointers in five of his last seven games and shooting 43.8% from range during the NCAA Tournament.
  • KenPom projects this game to be a pretty high scoring contest, with an estimated total of 158 points.

CBB PrizePicks Pick: Florida G Alijah Martin — 1.5 3-Pt Made

Alabama vs. Duke: Preview, Pick

Time: 8:49 p.m. ET
How to Watch: TBS

Football powerhouse turned perennial basketball contender 2-seed Alabama (28-8) takes on blue-blood 1-seed Duke (34-3) in the East Regional Final.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are fresh off an NCAA record-setting performance in the Round of 16 in which they drained 25 3-pointers in a win over BYU. The Tide also surpassed 100 points for the ninth time this season.

Powered by All-American Mark Sears (19 points per game) and breakout sophomore Aden Holloway (11.6 PPG, 42.0 3P%), Alabama plays at the nation’s fastest tempo, maximizing possessions for its fourth-ranked offense, per KenPom. Head coach Nate Oats was one of college basketball’s early adopters of an NBA-style, analytics-driven offense that prioritizes 3-pointers and shots and the rim.

Duke carries a 14-game winning streak into what should be a very exciting — and high scoring — matchup against Alabama. Of course, freshman phenom Cooper Flagg leads the way for the Blue Devils. The projected No. 1 NBA Draft pick leads the Blue Devils in all five major statistical categories, averaging 19.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.3 blocks.

Flagg’s supporting cast — freshmen Kon Knueppel and Khaman Maluach, along with Tyrese Proctor — has delivered all season long but has picked up the scoring even more since Flagg’s recent ankle injury.

According to KenPom, this Duke squad currently ranks as the best in college basketball since the 1998-99 Blue Devils, a team that fell just one game short of a national championship.

Here are a few key stats to help you make your DFS picks for Saturday’s tournament matchup on PrizePicks:

  • Duke G Tyrese Proctor is averaging 12.4 points per game this season.
  • The junior from Australia has topped his projected 14.5-point mark on PrizePicks in three of his last four games. He is averaging a whopping five made 3-pointers per game at a wild 58.8% clip over that stretch.
  • Alabama G Mark Sears exploded for 34 points on 10-of-16 shooting from deep vs. BYU. Before the blow-up performance, the senior was just 5-for-35 from 3-point range in his previous six games.
  • Alabama leads the nation in scoring (91.4 PPG), while Duke ranks No. 1 in KenPom offensive efficiency. Duke is 12th in scoring (83.6 PPG), while Alabama ranks fourth in offensive efficiency.
  • KenPom projects this to be one of the highest-scoring games of the tournament, with an estimated total of 168 points.

CBB PrizePicks Pick: Duke G Tyrese Proctor — 14.5 Points & 3.5 3-Pt Made (Demon)
