Lions Face Key Injuries Ahead of Thanksgiving Game
The Detroit Lions have been a dominant force this season, boasting a near-perfect 10-1 record and covering the spread in nine of those wins. However, their upcoming Thanksgiving matchup against the Chicago Bears comes with significant concerns due to injuries on both sides of the ball. On defense, key corners Carlton Davis and Terrion Arnold are both dealing with injuries; Davis missed Tuesday’s practice, while Arnold was a full participant and looks set to play.
On offense, the Lions face even greater challenges, as key contributors WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, RB David Montgomery, WR Khalif Raymond, and starting LT Taylor Decker all sat out practice on Monday. St. Brown and Montgomery, most importantly, returned to practice on Tuesday, but may not be 100%. Raymond and Decker are expected to sit out.
The Bears will also have their fair share of injuries with both safeties being banged up which makes this game rather interesting from a DFS perspective, so let’s break down the best spots to target
Bears WR D.J. Moore 55.5 Receiving Yards — More
Bears WR D.J. Moore stands to benefit most from the injury to CB Carlton Davis. He is projected to match up against cornerback Kindle Vildor, a fifth-round pick from Georgia Southern who has limited NFL experience. Vildor has only played 80 coverage snaps this season, allowing over 11 yards per reception when targeted.
Moore, meanwhile, continues to shine as a top-15 NFL wide receiver in both targets and receptions. With a near-perfect passer rating when targeted and over 10 yards per reception, Moore is poised for a productive game.
Detroit’s man-heavy defensive scheme could lead to Moore seeing a high volume of targets against an inexperienced and vulnerable cornerback.

Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs 0.5 Rush+Rec TDs – More (Goblin)
With RB David Montgomery appearing on the injury report, former first-round pick Jahmyr Gibbs could see an expanded role in Detroit’s backfield on a short week. Despite splitting carries with Montgomery, Gibbs has had a phenomenal season, ranking in the top five in rushing yards, touchdowns, and yards per carry (5.8). He’s also delivered 25 explosive runs of 10+ yards, showcasing his big-play ability.
The Bears’ linebacking corps has struggled significantly against the run. Tremaine Edmunds ranks 69th out of 85 linebackers in run defense, while T.J. Edwards ranks 62nd. This matchup presents a prime opportunity for Gibbs to make a significant impact.
Note: Goblin picks reduce your payout on PrizePicks, as they are easier projections to hit.
Lions WR Tim Patrick Rec Yards — More
With WRs Amon-Ra St. Brown and Khalif Raymond questionable to play with new injuries since the Week 12 game, WR Tim Patrick is likely to see an increased role in the Lions' offense on Thanksgiving. On Tuesday, St. Brown was limited, while Raymond didn’t practice.
Patrick has been a reliable target for Jared Goff, catching 20 of 24 targets for over 13 yards per reception.
Against a struggling Bears secondary, highlighted by CB Tyrique Stevenson, Patrick could thrive. Stevenson ranks 84th out of 108 cornerbacks in coverage and has allowed 31 receptions on 57 targets for a passer rating near 100 and over 14 yards per reception.
Patrick’s potential for increased snaps due to injuries makes him a sneaky, high-upside option to watch in this Thanksgiving clash. While his projections aren’t on the PrizePicks board as of publishing, keep an eye out for something to drop before the 12:30 p.m. ET lock time.
