NFL Week Two Storylines
It’s hard to pick just a few storylines after the rollercoaster ride in week one. Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon, the Cowboys showed their dominance, some young stars made leaps while others made their GMs nervous for their job security. Heading into week two, here are the top stories worth watching to help you place your NFL daily fantasy entries.
Dallas Dominance and Super Bowl Hopes
After the Cowboys signed Trey Lance this offseason, every Dallas hater came out of hibernation to start trashing Jerry Jones’s team. Despite several solid regular season performances, Dak hasn’t been able to get the job done in the playoffs, even with so many weapons.
All eyes were on Dak and Dallas on Sunday night. What they delivered- total domination of the up and coming New York Giants. Dak didn’t put up any crazy numbers but he didn’t need it. The defense and special teams units were unreal under the lights in the Meadowlands.
As long as the Cowboys can keep up this play, Dak can avoid the hot seat and maybe enjoy the ride to a super bowl appearance.
Trouble in Kansas City
As NFL fans, it wouldn’t be true week two if we weren’t overreacting to week one results. With that said, Kansas City looked sloppy. Mahomes did his best to carry his team but poor performances from key players and the absence of Travis Kelce were too much for even Mahomes.
Kansas City receivers were dropping balls left and right and even caused a crucial pick six off a tipped pass. The Chiefs have started slow in recent years before showing the power of elite coaching and QB play, so it’s too early to count them out but definitely something to keep an eye on for your DFS entries.

NFL Week Two DFS Projections & Picks
Receiving Yards
Justin Jefferson - WR, MIN
The reigning Offensive Player of the Year didn’t miss a beat in his 2023 debut. He picked up right where he left off, racking up 9 catches for 150 yards in week one.
This week he’s projected at 92.5 yards. It’s hard to duplicate such an impressive performance each week but if anyone can do it, it’s Justin Jefferson. Keep an eye on him for your NFL week two DFS entries.

Calvin Ridley - WR, JAC
After nearly two years without playing a regular season football game, Calvin Ridley made his Jaguars debut and he did it in impressive fashion. Ridley put up 101 yards and a TD off 8 receptions from third year QB Trevor Lawrence.
Heading into week two, Ridley and crew take on Kansas City who are looking to make up for a close loss to the Lions in week one. If Trevor Lawrence can keep improving, this could be a memorable comeback year for Calvin Ridley.

Pass Yards
Joe Burrow - QB, CIN
After a disappointing end to the 2022 season, Burrow certainly didn’t ease any of that pain with a big performance in week one. The former super bowl runner-up barely threw for 80 yards and had 0 TDs against their division rival, Cleveland.
Even with that lacklust start, Joe Burrow always steps up when people count him out. It’s never wise to doubt Joe Cool because he’s sure to heat up quick. In week two he faces another division opponent, the Baltimore Ravens, so he’ll need to deliver for Cincy to avoid losing too much ground in the AFC North.

Trevor Lawrence - QB, JAC
The former number 1 draft pick hasn’t had an easy go in Jacksonville so far. The QB never lost a game in high school or college and quickly learned things would be different in the NFL. After a few coaching changes, Lawrence finally looks ready to earn his place as a top NFL quarterback.
In week one he threw for over 240 yards and had a pair of TDs against the Indianapolis Colts. This week he’s projected at 257.5 as he hosts the Kansas City Chiefs in Jacksonville. If he and Ridley can keep this strong connection, KC might be looking at an 0-2 start.

Rush Yards
Nick Chubb - RB, CLE
Nick Chubb ran all over the Bengals on Sunday and helped Cleveland get off to a 1-0 start to 2023. The veteran RB had over 100 yards on 18 carries in week one.
This week he’ll take on Pittsburgh who were embarrassed by the 49ers at home last week. If Tomlin can’t find a way to fill the holes in Pittsburgh, the ship is going to sink quickly. Keep an eye on Nick Chubb in week two against their division rival.

Christian McCaffrey - RB, SF
On the other side of that beat down in Pittsburgh last week, Christian McCaffrey and the San Francisco 49ers were firing on all cylinders. McCaffrey ran for 152 yards and a TD against the Steelers.
This week McCaffrey and the 49ers face the Rams in LA who had a surprisingly decent week one win. Christian is projected at just 69.5 rushing yards so maybe Sean McVay has something up his sleeve to slow down his division and California rivals.
