Capitals D John Carlson 2.5 Shots On Goal — More (Demon)
The Capitals are having a phenomenal season, as they are leading the league with 67 points. It has been a huge turnaround from last season, where they snuck into the playoffs on one of the last days of the regular season.
Give the credit to this highly efficient offense, as they lead in shot percentage (13%) and are second in goals scored per game (3.57). Last season, they dealt with a lot of injuries to some of their best players, but even with Alex Ovechkin having trouble staying healthy, there has been a great supporting cast to keep this competitive.
This includes Carlson, who has been a very efficient two-way player, as he’s third in assists (24). He will take his shots and has gone more than this number in 63% of his games this season. Facing off against another top offense like Edmonton, both teams will need goals so each team should be looking for as many opportunities as possible.
Hurricanes F Jordan Staal 9.5 Faceoff Wins — More
It’s another year that the Hurricanes are a contender, as they hold second place in the Metropolitan, and it’s because of their very deep roster. Their offense can feature a playmaker on each line combination thanks to having ten players with at least 20 points and eight players with at least ten goals.
The deeper lines have been doing the most damage lately, and when you have players on the third and fourth lines making the biggest contributions, it’s usually a mismatch.
A few of these players could be on the top lines for most teams and that includes Jordan Staal. He’s coming into this game with nine points (6 goals, 3 assists) over his last ten games, but he’s been playing a bigger role by helping the Canes get initial possession. He’s seventh in the league with 860 faceoff wins, a 51.6 win percentage, and has gone over this number in seven of his last eight.
Lightning F Nikita Kucherov 1.5 Points — More
The Lightning have the best offense in the league, leading with 3.66 goals per game. It has them playing very well, as they are 5-1-1 in their last seven games and have scored at least four goals in four of them. A significant factor is chemistry, as the Lightning have the same core of players who went to three-straight Stanley Cup Finals.
Nikita Kucherov has been one of those and is not only their best player, but one of the best in the league. Although he led the league in points last year, he wasn’t able to win the Hart Trophy, but he’ll be in the race ahead as his 69 points are second.
He’ll go against the Canadiens who have been a lot better lately, especially on the offense. The goaltending however has been shaky as they allowed 11 goals in their last two games.
A perfect chance for the Bolts and their fast style of play to get some goals with the help of Kucherov, who has multiple goals in three of his last five.

Montreal F Cole Caufield 17.5 Time On Ice — More
We’ll turn around and look at a player on the other side of the Tampa Bay game. After a disappointing start to the season, the Canadiens have made their ascension. There were high expectations with the roster they had, and it looks like they are finally putting it together and have gone 12-3-1 recently.
A significant reason is the offense has significantly improved by scoring 3.75 goals per game during that 16-game span.
Everyone is starting to step up, including rookie Lane Hutson, but Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki are the driving forces of this offense. Caufield is their best playmaker and he’s one of eight players that has at least 24 goals and 20 assists. This is because he and Suzuki are great on breakaways and passing through neutral, and both pass or take the shot.
Caufield will be essential in trying to beat the best offense in the league and they will need their best goalscorer on the ice for it.
Predator LW Filip Forsberg 0.5 Assists — More
The Predators have had a rough season, but they are currently on a nice run. They have won three straight, and it’s the first time they’ve done this since October. When looking at some of their offensive stats, it’s shocking they aren’t better: they are ninth in shots on goal per game (29.5%), but they are 31st in goals allowed per game.
The offense might be finally clicking, as they’ve scored 14 goals in their last three games. It all starts with their leader, Filip Forsberg, and he has been playing very well during this three-game winning streak with seven points (3 goals, 3 assists) in that span.
Forsberg has also recorded at least a point in seven-straight games. This is a great chance for him and Preds to blow up the stat sheet against the Sharks who are 31st in goals allowed per game (3.49).
