NHL DFS Picks for PrizePicks: Thursday 1/30
Find the best NHL DFS picks and projections on PrizePicks for Thursday, January 30, below.
- Jets LW Kyle Connor 0.5 Assists — More
- Capitals D John Carlson 1.5 Shots On Goal — Less
- Sharks LW William Eklund 0.5 Points — More
- Lightning RW Nikita Kucherov 1.5 Points — More
- Oilers D Evan Bouchard 2.5 Shots On Goal — More
Jets LW Kyle Connor 0.5 Assists — More
The Jets look as dominant as they were earlier in the season when they started 14-1-0. They are currently 7-2-0 over their last nine games, allowing 1.88 goals per game, scoring 3.44, and a Fenwick percentage of 55.9. They’ve been proving to be a two-way team all season, and it will make it difficult to beat them in a seven-game series.
They are heading to Boston, where it’s always to play, but this is not the same Bruins team from recent years. Defensively, this is where we’ve seen the biggest regression because they were fifth last year in goals allowed per game, and this year they are 23rd.
Winnipeg also has an 8-1 dominant performance against the Bruins, where Connors came away with two assists. Their points leader has no problem taking it on himself, but being second on the team in assists, he will dish it out.
Capitals D John Carlson 1.5 Shots On Goal — Less
The Jets and Capitals could be battling it out for the Presidents Trophy as they are tied for the lead with 73 points. Their six-game winning streak was recently snapped, but they rebounded quickly and are coming off a win against the Flames. What makes them a serious contender is they can beat you with their offense or defense, as they lead the league in goals allowed (2.34) and are third in goals allowed.
This will be an exciting matchup because no one has played the Caps tougher than the Senators a couple of weeks ago. The game lasted a full 60 minutes without one goal, and Alex Ovechkin finally scored to win it in overtime.
They both prove to be tough on defense, so we could see another low-scoring game. They match each other for fifth with 27.4 shots on goal allowed, Carlson had just one in the last matchup and has not recorded one in three of his last four games.

Sharks LW William Eklund 0.5 Points — More
It’s another brutal season in northern California. The Sharks will finish near the bottom of the league in points and have a great possibility of landing the No. 1 overall pick. It’s tough to pick out a positive for a team that is last in goals allowed (3.62) and 30th in goals scored (2.62), and are the only ones scoring one full goal less than they are allowing.
Looking at these stats, they do not look like the same team when they play the Kraken; they have scored 12 goals between two wins. Pay attention to the status of San Jose points leader Mikael Granlund; he’s battling an illness and is questionable for this game. This will be a great spot for Eklund to step up and he did have two assists in the first game against Seattle.
Lightning RW Nikita Kucherov 1.5 Points — More
What is going on with the Tampa Bay Lightning? Not too long ago, they looked like one of the top teams in the league and had a stretch where they scored over four goals per game. They are currently 6-9-1 in their last 16 games, averaging just 2.50 goals.
They scored just one goal between the Red Wings and Blackhawks, who are in the bottom 12, and now have to face the Kings, who are fourth. However, Los Angeles has also been underperforming, especially on defense, and it wasn’t too long ago that they allowed the fewest goals. Over their last six games they are allowing 3.50 goals and 28.8 shots on goal. This could be a great opportunity for Kucherov to have a bounce-back performance, and he’s scored multiple points in an impressive 42% of his games this year.
You can also take Kucherov to score a goal as a Demon pick, which will boost your PrizePicks Lineup payout.
Oilers D Evan Bouchard 2.5 Shots On Goal — More
The Oilers had an uninspiring start to the season at 6-7-1, especially when coming off a Stanley Cup Finals appearance. This happened last year, and they were able to improve, and they did so again as they have been 26-8-2 since.
With the exception of Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid, no one on the offense was playing well. This team has many talented forwards they secured long-term to remain a title contender. Players like Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Zach Hyman, and Adam Henrique are important, and they are finally stepping up.
They are going against the Red Wings, who can score but lack defensive strength that could give Edmonton many opportunities. This is a prime spot for Bouchard because he is a defenseman who has no problem shooting, and he’s coming into this matchup with over shots on goal in eight of his last 15 games.
