Shedeur Sanders NFL Draft Profile — Projection, Stats, & NFL Comparison

April 1, 2025

April 1, 2025

Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders is a top 2025 NFL Draft prospect. However, as the draft approaches, his stock could be falling. Where will Shedeur Sanders be picked in the Draft

With the 2025 NFL Draft nearing, few names are drawing more attention than Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders.

Sanders was a 2024 All-American and the winner of the Johnny Unitas Award for best quarterback in college football. Sanders helped Colorado make a huge leap from 4-8 in 2023 to 9-4 in 2024.

But as the Draft nears, some scouts are split. Despite his production and poise, questions about his pro readiness have led to debates about whether he’s a surefire franchise QB. His draft stock is fluctuating — with names like Cam Ward climbing — but Sanders remains one of the most intriguing prospects in the class.

We will break down everything you need to know about Shedeur Sanders heading into the 2025 NFL Draft, including his draft pick projection, college stats, combine performance, strengths, and NFL comparison.

At PrizePicks, you can win real money by making predictions for the upcoming NFL Draft, including where Sanders will be drafted. We will analyze the top NFL Draft prospects and where they will likely be drafted to help you make your PrizePick NFL Draft lineup.

Let’s dive into Sander’s draft profile.

Shedeur Sanders College Stats

Sander played four seasons in Division I, two with Jackson State and two with Colorado. These are his career totals:

  • 50 total games
  • 1267-for-1808 (70.1%)
  • 134 touchdowns
  • 27 interceptions
  • 160.4 Quarterback Rating

His best season was in 2024 with Colorado, where he led the Big 12 in several categories:

  • 353 completions
  • 4,134 passing yards
  • 37 touchdowns
  • 74.0 completion percentage (also led the FBS)

Shedeur Sanders Combine Results

Sanders did not participate in any drills during the Combine, although he did participate in measurements.

Height: 6-foot-1 ½”

Weight: 212 pounds

Arm: 31 ½”

Hand: 9 ⅜”

Shedeur Sanders Game To Watch

Sanders and Colorado were much improved in the 2024 season, thanks in large part to WR/CB Travis Hunter, who made plays left and right for the Buffaloes. Below, check out Sanders’ best game from his 2024 campaign.

September 21, 2024, Colorado vs. Baylor

This was Colorado’s first game in the Big 12 after going 1-8 in Pac-12 in 2023. Sanders showed resilience in high-pressure situations, including a game-tying drive in the fourth quarter, which concluded with a 43-yard touchdown pass with two seconds left. This would help lead Colorado to an overtime win and keep them on pace to win the Big 12, until a late season collapse.

Shedeur Sanders Notable Achievements

  • 2024 Johnny Unitas Award winner for best quarterback
  • 2024 First-Team All American
  • 2024 Big 12 Offensive Player Of The Year
  • 2024 First-Team All-Big 12

Shedeur Sanders: Strengths

  • One of the most accurate quarterbacks in college football history, with a career completion rate of 71%.
  • His accuracy is apparent on in-pocket throws as well as off-balance and on-the-move throws.
  • Has outstanding ball security, and his career TD-to-INT ratio is outstanding.
  • Doesn’t prefer to use his legs, but he can move around the pocket and let plays develop.
  • He has a quick and technically sound throwing motion. The motion remains the same in any situation, which keeps him consistent.
  • Has the intangible leadership qualities you can’t teach.
  • Always rooting for and encouraging his teammates, holds a strong command of the huddle, and remains calm under pressure.

Shedeur Sanders Weaknesses

  • Continuously draws back in the pocket when waiting for route progressions. That makes it difficult for his offensive line to block, and the extra yards make for more difficult throws.
  • Has trouble reading complex blitz packages and often leaves himself vulnerable to getting pressured.
  • He does not like to make big throws, especially vertical routes, and tends to stay with intermediate options.
  • He will hold onto the ball longer than he should and took 54 sacks last season.

Shedeur Sanders NFL Comparison: Aaron Rodgers

Future Hall of Fame QB Aaron Rodgers and Sanders have many of the same attributes and similar styles in how they play. Rodgers has been one of the more accurate passers in the NFL and frequently finishes in the top ten in completion percentage.

Rodgers is also brilliant with his throws; on multiple occasions, he has gone a long time without throwing an interception. He holds the record with 402 passes without an interception, and his 1.7 interception percentage is currently the lowest in NFL history.

Like Sanders, Rodgers prefers to be a standard pocket passer, but he can move around and wait for plays to develop or take off. He can either make throws on the run or get a positive play with his legs. This was especially the case earlier in his career, where he rushed for at least 250 yards in every season he played more than 10 games between 2009 and 2018.

NFL Draft Projection: Will Shedeur Sanders Fall in the Draft?

There is no doubt that Sanders has the tangibles to be a starting NFL quarterback, but will you take the baggage that he comes with? Before he even declared for the draft, his father, NFL Hall of Famer and his former coach, Deion Sanders, said he would — behind closed doors — dictate what teams his son would be willing to play for. It’s hard to say this is behind closed doors when you announce it will happen.

There were also rumors that some teams did not come away with a positive impression at his combine meetings. Several anonymous GMs said he looked “disinterested” and “unprofessional.” All of these factors seem to have taken him out of the top five conversations. This would mean the Titans and Browns could both be out unless they consider trading down, as these are the only two top five teams looking for a QB.

Past the top five, few teams are looking to go early with a quarterback. New Orleans at No. 9 could be an option with Derek Carr having trouble staying on the field. Indianapolis could be falling out of love with Anthony Richardson and might want to move on, but that seems a bit unlikely considering he was the No. 4 overall pick just two years ago.

The Steelers at No. 21 is the only team outside the top five that needs a quarterback. There are rumors the Steelers are trying to get Aaron Rodgers, but at 41 years old, he is a temporary solution. They could sign Rodgers, draft Sanders, and have him as the backup for at least the first season.

Of course, this all depends on whether Deion Sanders wants that from his son. This could be a situation where teams don’t want to deal with the headache, and we see Sanders fall until he becomes a value pick on Day 2.
