Emeka Egbuka Scouting Report for 2025 NFL Draft
Here is the full scouting report for Ohio State WR Emeka Egbuka in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Strengths
- Has an excellent ability to track and adjust on the move to catch the ball
- Natural feel for finding space in zone coverage, which could help him out of the slot at the next level
- Maintains good timing and tempo on breaks during a route
- Tough and physical — uses stiff-arms and leverage to fight through defenders
- Footwork is excellent, with a strong understanding of field positioning
- Willing blocker who can help set up plays for teammates
Weaknesses
- Shown only average speed and acceleration when driving and coming out of breaks.
- Struggles to drop weight and open coming out of a comeback route.
- Proves to be jostled by physical coverage underneath and doesn’t win consistently in contested catch situations.
- Some scouts may limit him to be a slot receiver in the NFL
Emeka Egbuka NFL Comparison: Amon-Ra St.Brown
Egbuka draws a lot of comparisons to Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown — especially with how they win from the slot. Both rely on polished route-running and dependable hands — Egbuka’s 76.4% ranked eighth in college football among eligible WRs, per PFF.
Several things from Egbuka’s game are clearly evident in the success of St. Brown. Both understand how to find open space in zone coverage from the slot while using adjusted routes. Their instincts and play strength are off the charts. They also are willing to do the “dirty work,” using screens and blocks to create open space for their teammates.
Like St. Brown, Egbuka isn’t the flashiest WR in the class — but he might be one of the most reliable. He’s a quarterback’s best friend and brings immediate value to any offense.

Emeka Egbuka NFL Draft Projection: Will a Team Trade Up?
Egbuka is a first round talent in this draft. However, he could find himself going anywhere from 18th to Seattle, late in the first round, or even early in the second round.
The most obvious pick for the Seattle Seahawks is reuniting former Ohio State teammates Egbuka and Jaxon Smith-Njigba,. Moving DK Metcalf to Pittsburgh made it clear the Seahawks want to go younger on the offensive side of the ball with their playmakers, with a need at WR.
No matter if an NFL team keeps Egbuka in the slot or moves him outside, his physicality and ability to find open space will allow him to excel.
If the Seahawks skip on Egbuka, look for a team like the Chargers, Bills, or Rams to jump on the opportunity while wanting to add pieces to enhance their offense. Our most recent NFL Mock Draft has Texas WR Matthew Golden going to the Seahawks over Egbuka. That could land Egbuka further in the first round.
