In every fantasy football league, competition runs high, but there always seems to be that one unfortunate team at the bottom of the standings. To keep things fun and motivate players to stay engaged all season, many leagues have implemented fantasy football punishments for the last-place finisher in recent years.

Whether it’s something hilarious, mildly embarrassing, or truly memorable, a well-chosen punishment can add an extra layer of excitement and incentive to the league.

Here are the top 10 fantasy football punishments that will make sure your league’s loser doesn’t stop giving his all!

If you’re already out of the running to win your fantasy football league in 2024, you can turn to PrizePicks to get real money action on NFL every week, all season long. Nathan’s Hot Dog Challenge Punishment

This may be the longest lasting fantasy football punishment. The fantasy football league loser has to consume the same number of hot dogs within a week as the most recent Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest winner — in this year’s case, that’s 63 hot dogs. This punishment is safe, but will surely leave a lasting impression!

All-Day Lemonade Stand Punishment

The last-place league finisher must set up a lemonade stand and keep it running until they either reach a set time limit or make a certain amount of money. It’s a lighthearted punishment that guarantees a few laughs — and the extra cash goes to either the winner of that season or the winner of the following year.

Costumed 5K Challenge Punishment

In this punishment, the fantasy football league's weakest link must run a 5K in full costume. They’ll need to complete a full warm-up, carry a funny sign with something the league winner comes up with, and make sure not to finish last. Alternatively, they can choose to run in a full suit! Anything to make their 5K that much more difficult.

Hot Ones Challenge Punishment

The season’s under-performer has to endure the infamous Hot Ones lineup, taking on increasingly spicy wings while answering questions from league members. You can add an extra kick by allowing league members to pick out their wing sauce of choic It’s a fiery punishment that’ll test their spice tolerance — and provide endless entertainment for everyone else!

Peanut Butter Mile Punishment

On a hot day, the last-place finisher must run a mile with their entire body coated in peanut butter. It’s sticky, messy, and sure to be a memorable — and possibly torturous — experience! Not only will they be battling the heat, but they’ll also have to deal with the uncomfortable gooeyness that will melt more and more every step of the way.

Stand-Up Comedy Punishment

The league’s last place finisher must perform at least five minutes of live stand-up comedy at an open mic or comedy club. Whether they write their own material or leave it to their leaguemates to create the jokes, it’s sure to be an awkward but hilarious experience for everyone involved!

They'll have to deliver the jokes with confidence or endure the longest 5 minutes of their lives, all while trying to keep the crowd from cringing or laughing at their expense.

Calendar Shoot Punishment

The league’s embarrassment must pose for 12 different themed photos to create a custom calendar. From ridiculous outfits to hilarious poses, the punishment will provide endless laughs, and memories that cannot be forgotten. To top it off, they’re responsible for paying for the calendars so that every league member gets their own copy to remember the year of their defeat!

Open Season Punishment

This one is sure to hurt. The league’s biggest loser must wear an inflatable costume and become the target of their leaguemates armed with paintball guns. While the costume offers some protection, the constant barrage of paintballs is sure to leave them with colorful memories — and a few welts — of their fantasy football defeat!

Billboard of Shame Punishment

This one is more publicly shaming than any of those before it. The league’s bottomfeeder must have a picture and phrase chosen by their leaguemates featured on a public billboard. They’ll have to cover the cost, and the result is a dose of public embarrassment that will live on for all to see!

Fantasy Football Punishments in an Alternate Reality

Here are a few more wholesome fantasy football punishments from Joe Fenti on Instagram.

  • Community Service Commitment: The last-place finisher must volunteer 200 hours at a local organization, giving back to their community in a big way.
  • Gratitude and Goal-Setting Journal: For the next month, they’re required to keep a daily journal to reflect on gratitude, set short-term goals, and share the experience with the league.
  • Therapy Sessions: The season’s lowest-ranked player has to attend therapy sessions, focusing on personal growth and self-reflection — an enlightening twist that might lead to a truly life-changing experience!
