Vikings vs. Rams in Wild Card Round: Where to Watch & Preview
Date: Monday, January 13, 2025
Time: 8 p.m. ET
Location: State Farm Stadium, Glendale, AZ
TV: ABC, ESPN, ESPN+
These two teams played each other in Week 8, which was a home game for the Rams. The Rams emerged with the victory, winning 30-20. This game was scheduled to be at home for the Rams again, but the fires in California have forced the NFL to move it to Arizona — luckily the Rams got an extra day to alleviate any travel issues, as it seemed to have a negative impact on the Chargers in their loss to Houston.
The Vikings are coming off a tough loss to the Lions in Week 18 that prevented them from earning the top seed in the NFC, as QB Sam Darnold played one of his worst games of the season.
Meanwhile, the Rams come into this game well rested after sitting many of their top players in Week 18. They had their bye in Week 6, so it provided some much-needed time off for their key veterans, as it seemed HC Sean McVay was content to get the four-seed. Now, they come into this game as healthy as they've been all season.
Rams QB Matthew Stafford 1.5 Pass TDs – More
Rams QB Matthew Stafford finished with just 20 passing touchdowns this season. However, he did pick things up in that department down the stretch, totaling at least two touchdown passes in six of his final 10 games. That included when he threw four touchdown passes against the Vikings in Week 8. In what has the potential to be a high-scoring game between two loaded offenses, Stafford should receive multiple opportunities to record touchdown passes.

Vikings RB Aaron Jones 21.5 Receiving Yards – More
This is a great matchup for Vikings RB Aaron Jones, who is one of the more versatile running backs in the league. He was productive in the passing game this season, totaling at least 23 receiving yards in 10 of his 17 games. When he faced the Rams previously, he caught two passes for 37 yards. The Rams allowed the third-most yards per target to running backs (7.28) in the league, leaving Jones in a favorable spot to surpass this projection.
Best TD Scorer Pick: Vikings WR Justin Jefferson
The Rams allowed 20 touchdown receptions to wide receivers this season, which was tied for the fourth-most in the league. The only playoff team to allow more touchdown passes to wide receivers is the Texans (21). While Vikings WR Justin Jefferson did not record a touchdown against the Rams in Week 8, he did catch eight of nine targets for 115 yards. Expect him to remain busy in this rematch.
Note: Demon picks add a payout boost to your lineup on PrizePicks, as they are more difficult projections to hit.
Goblin Pick: Rams WR Puka Nacua 79.5 Receiving Yards
The Vikings allowed the ninth-highest explosive pass percentage (14.18%) in the league, per 4for4 Fantasy Football. When these teams last met, Rams WR Puka Nacua was coming off a five-game absence because of injury. He was limited to just 35 offensive snaps, but he still caught seven of nine targets for 106 yards. With regards to this projection, Nacua finished with at least 80 receiving yards in seven of his 11 games.
Note: Goblin picks reduce your payout on PrizePicks, as they are easier projections to hit.
Game Prediction: Vikings 30, Rams 27
The Vikings were 6-2 on the road this season, so not playing this game in Minnesota isn’t a huge detriment for them. While the Vikings lost the last time they faced the Rams, their only other two losses this season came against arguably the best team in the league in the Lions. Their offense is loaded, so they can hang with Stafford and company. Look for them to win this game and possibly have to face the Lions again in the next round.
