Top Fantasy Baseball Players on New Teams in 2025

Here’s a look at some of the top players to watch in fantasy baseball this season who changed teams in the offseason and their projections are on PrizePicks

OF Juan Soto, New York Mets

2025 Fantasy Baseball Projections - Juan Soto

Following only one season as a member of the Yankees, Soto shifted from the Bronx to Flushing after inking a massive 15-year, $765 million deal with the Mets. The dynamic outfielder helped lead the Yankees to a World Series appearance in 2024, but will look to be the hero to push the Mets over the hump this year.

Soto hit a career-high 41 home runs last season, with 109 RBIs, marking the third time in his career with at least 100 RBI.

Looking ahead to the 2025 season, PrizePicks has Soto’s home run projection at 34.5 for the season, as he has hit more than 35 home runs in each of the past two seasons.

From an RBI standpoint, his projection for the upcoming season sits at 102.5. Soto has produced 109 RBI in each of the previous two seasons with the Padres and Yankees.

SP Corbin Burnes, Arizona Diamondbacks

2025 Fantasy Baseball Projections - Corbin Burnes

Another star that is playing with his third team in three seasons is Corbin Burnes, who signed a six-year deal with the Diamondbacks after spending the 2024 campaign in Baltimore.

The 2021 National League Cy Young winner won a career-high 15 games last season with the Orioles, while leading Baltimore to a Wild Card berth last season.

Burnes put together three consecutive seasons of at least 200 strikeouts from 2021 through 2023 in Milwaukee. However, the right-hander finished shy of that mark with the Orioles by recording 181 strikeouts in 2024.

His strikeout projection is set at 172.5, and he has not finished below that mark as a regular starter in his career. His win projection sits at 11.5, and Burnes has finished with more than 12 victories in two of the past three seasons.

3B Alex Bregman, Boston Red Sox

2025 Fantasy Baseball Projections - Alex Bregman

The conversation revolving around Alex Bregman was whether he would end up with the Cubs or Red Sox for the 2025 season. Following a successful nine-year stint with the Astros, Bregman bolted to Beantown for a fresh start with the Red Sox.

Bregman hasn’t put up the elite offensive numbers like he did in 2018 and 2019 (72 homers and 215 RBI), as the third baseman hasn’t hit more than 26 homers in any of the past three seasons.

Bregman’s home run projection is 20.5 for the 2025 campaign as he has eclipsed that number in each of the past five seasons when playing at least 100 games.

The RBI projection is 79.5 for Bregman in the 2025 season, as he produced only 75 RBI in his final season with the Astros in 145 games. In the two years before, Bregman hit 98 and 93 RBIs, playing at least 155 games in each of those two seasons.

SP Blake Snell, Los Angeles Dodgers

2025 Fantasy Baseball Projections - Blake Snell

The rich got richer as Snell continued his merry-go-round ride through the NL West by signing with the World Champion Dodgers on a five-year, $182 million contract. Following a three-year tenure with the Padres, Snell uprooted to the Bay Area for a one-year stint in San Francisco in 2024.

The two-time Cy Young winner will look to solidify the Dodgers’ rotation this season, coming off a 5-3 campaign in San Francisco. An interesting number for Snell is that he has won double-digit games only twice in his career, both resulting in a Cy Young award.

Snell’s win projection is at 12.5 for the 2025 season on PrizePicks. Frankly, it’s a toss-up, because he has made at least 30 starts twice in his career. It will likely rely heavily on his health. He had a late start to last season with the Giants due to him signing in the middle of spring training.

The southpaw is a strikeout machine, coming off a career-high 12.5 K’s per nine innings. Snell’s strikeout projection is 192.5 and 4.5 games with at least 10 K’s. Last season, he finished with five double-digit strikeout games, all coming following the All-Star break.

In both of his seasons where he tallied 30+ starts, he recorded over 220 strikeouts. Outside of those two seasons, he has never topped 171 strikeouts in a single season.

SP Garrett Crochet, Boston Red Sox

2025 Fantasy Baseball Projections - Garrett Crochet

As the only bright spot for the 41-win White Sox last season, Crochet switched out his socks to Red after getting dealt to Boston this past offseason.

Crochet isn’t exactly playing for a contender in 2025 — Red Sox finished 81-81 in 2024, but obviously, the situation improves from pitching for the worst team in baseball.

The southpaw won only six games last season, but posted 209 strikeouts, which ranked seventh in all of baseball. His strikeout projection stat is 204.5 for the 2025 season, putting him in good company alongside Paul Skenes, Tarik Skubal, and Dylan Cease as the only pitchers projected to reach the 200 strikeout mark.

He is also projected for a 3.05 ERA, following a year where his ERA was 3.58. It’s a lofty projection for Crochet, as that number would be the 11th highest in baseball last season.

SP Max Fried, New York Yankees

2025 Fantasy Baseball Projections - Max Fried

The New York Yankees solidified their starting rotation in the offseason by inking Max Fried to an eight-year deal worth $218 million. The long-time Atlanta Braves’ southpaw is making the change to the American League following an 11-10 campaign in 2024.

Fried’s season win projection is set at 11.5, which he passed three times in his career — in three of the four seasons with at least 28 starts. Two of Fried’s best campaigns came in limited action, when he posted a 7-0 record in 2020 and an 8-1 mark in 2023 before injury.

From an ERA standpoint, his projection is listed at 3.35 for the upcoming season. Fried’s ERA has been less than that projection for five consecutive years, but pitching at Yankee Stadium could inflate those numbers with its short porch in right field — especially coming off a year where he struggled against left-handed hitters (.377 wOBA)

Two other pitchers that signed massive free-agent deals with the Yankees the last few years — Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon — have combined for one season below a 3.35 ERA once since 2022.

In terms of his 0.5 complete games projection, Fried threw two complete games last year, and 8.2 innings in another. In his last 30-start season, in 2022, he did not throw a complete game, maxing out at 8 IP in two games.
