Padres P Nick Pivetta — 4.5 Hits Allowed

Time: 4:10 p.m. ET
Padres P Nick Pivetta could find himself in an interesting situation today, as over his last five starts, dating back to last season, the only team to produce more than 4.5 hits was the Chicago Cubs, in a matchup 11 days ago.
Through his three starts this season, he has averaged three hits, six strikeouts and one run per game; however the Cubs were able to knock him around. They ended up producing six hits, three runs while only allowing four strikeouts in just three innings. The Cubs also lead the league in hits, runs, RBIs, while also maintaining the seventh highest batting average in the league.
In the four games Pivetta has started against the Cubs in his career, he has allowed more than this hits projection.
Phillies P Aaron Nola — 6 Pitcher Strikeouts

Time: 6:45 p.m. ET
Phillies ace Aaron Nola has had a rough start to the season, allowing 10 earned runs in only 16 innings pitched in his three starts this season. However, one thing that has been relatively promising is his strikeout rates. In his three starts, Nola has produced games of eight, two, and seven strikeouts respectively, while his only game below this projection was a star-studded Dodgers’ lineup.
The matchup against the San Francisco Giants also seems relatively promising. The Giants are a bottom half batting team, sitting at 19th in batting average (.226) while also striking out fifth most in all of baseball (162 strikeouts).
If able to limit runs effectively against the fifth highest scoring offense early on, I don't see why Nola wouldn’t have a decent start with a relatively high number of strikeouts.

Padres 3B Manny Machado — 7.5 Hitter Fantasy Score

Time: 4:10 p.m. ET
Padres 3B Manny Machado has been on a tear so far this season, hitting what would be a career high .313 if he keeps this pace. Outside of one game against the Rockies where he went the whole game without a hit, Machado has cashed this projection in eight of his last nine games.
On the other hand however, Matthew Boyd has been solid for the Cubs, allowing just three runs through three starts and producing a 1.59 ERA this season. In his last game against Boyd, Machado only was able to produce one hit the whole game through four plate appearances.
There have been very limited opportunities forMachado to face Cubs starter Matthew Boyd, but through his 10 plate appearances, he has collected a .400 batting average. With the way Machado has been seeing the ball in the last ten days however, this projection seems intriguing.
Home Run Pick: Dodgers DH Shohei Ohtani (Demon)

Time: 10:10 p.m. ET
This Colorado Rockies matchup is perfect for a power hitter like Shohei Ohtani. Tied for 11th in the league for Home Runs at five, Ohtani and the Dodgers find themselves facing an obviously struggling (3-14) Colorado team. The Rockies are tied for the third most home runs allowed in baseball this season with 24, while the Dodgers lead the league in home runs at 32 this season.
Although German Marquez has not allowed any home runs this season, in his few short stints he has allowed a significant amount of runs, allowing ten in his last two starts. The struggles in the bullpen do not make things better for the Rockies as only one pitcher, starter or reliever, has an ERA under two.
Look for the Dodgers to capitalize on a struggling pitching team at home.
