Quarterbacks

Grayson McCall, NC State — MORE Than 1.5 Passing Touchdowns — Goblin Pick

After a long and successful career at Coastal Carolina, McCall has moved to a Power Five conference in order to boost his draft stock for 2025.

He had a fantastic debut with the Wolfpack, throwing for 319 passing yards and three touchdowns against Western Carolina.

Under head coach Josh Heupel, Tennessee has never been known as a defensive powerhouse, but this will probably be their worst pass defense. 10 defensive backs either went to the NFL or the transfer portal, so this will be a whole new unit. Tennessee’s offense will still be one of the best, so McCall will need to keep up through the air.

Dillon Gabriel, Oregon — MORE Than 399.5 Passing Yards — Demon Pick

The Ducks are replacing Bo Nix in what was the fourth-best scoring offense last season. They not only hit the transfer portal, but they smashed it.

Veteran Dillon Gabriel, now at his third stop with Oregon, previously put up monster numbers for Central Florida and Oklahoma. In three of his last five seasons, he’s posted over 3,000 passing yards and 27 or more touchdowns.

Will Stein is a pass-heavy offensive coordinator and now has some of the most talented receivers in the country. He could go north of 400 yards against a Boise State passing defense that was 116th in pass yards allowed per game last season.

Haynes King, Georgia Tech — Less Than 190.5 Passing Yards

King was the talk of college football when he upset Florida State in Ireland. He and the Yellow Jackets followed up with an easy win over mid-major Georgia State. They have a chance to get another important conference win against Syracuse in Week 2.

King is more known for his legs than his arm, and he only threw for 146 passing yards against Florida State. Now he’ll face the Orange, who made a big defensive hire by bringing in former Texas A&M coordinator Elijah Robinson, who led the Aggies’ top-20 defense last year.

Syracuse ranked 31st in pass coverage last year according to PFF and should be able to keep King in check despite the expectation of points in this game.

Running Backs

Ollie Gordon, Oklahoma State — MORE Than 126.5 Rushing Yards

Good luck to any defense facing Gordon. He's a complete package of speed, power, and elusiveness that could make him the best player at his position in the upcoming NFL Draft.

He gets Arkansas here, which improved its defense over the last year but is still a middle of the pack against the run. As a touchdown favorite, the Cowboys should control the pace against Arkansas.

The passing game for the Cowboys will still struggle with Alan Bowman under center, so they will lean on Gordon.

Jeremiyah Love, Notre Dame – MORE Than 0.5 Rush+Rec TDs — Goblin Pick

The world will soon get to love Jeremiyah. Last season, Love played behind Audric Estime, but when he got the ball, he made things happen, averaging 5.4 yards per carry. He had a big run in last week’s upset against Texas A&M with a 21-yard touchdown.

Mid-major Northern Illinois will be an easier opponent, and Notre Dame should be comfortable with keeping the ball on the ground. In this matchup, the Irish should run up the score, and Love should see plenty of touches to find the end zone.

Wide Receivers

Chase Roberts, BYU – MORE Than 3.5 Receptions

We shouldn’t expect the Cougars’ offense to be any better than last year. The Kedon Slovis project was a complete bust, and when Jake Retzlaff replaced him, he wasn’t any better. Retzlaff was named the starter this year, so don’t expect any improvements.

The reason to take Roberts is that the game script will force BYU to throw. SMU was in the top 15 in points scored and allowed, so they could grab a large lead early on. The Cougars will need to throw to catch up, and Roberts will get some garbage-time catches to pad the stats.

In Week 1, Roberts had eight targets (26.6% target share) and played on 29-of-30 passing plays, good for a team-high seven catches for 108 yards.

Note: BYU plays a Friday night game.

Jayce Brown, Kansas State — LESS Than 52.5 Receiving Yards

Avery Johnson is a mobile quarterback, but we’re not ready to call him a dual-threat. He’s very dynamic when running the ball, but the passing game has yet to be proven.

In his first start last year at the Pop-Tarts Bowl, he only threw for 178 yards against an NC State defense that didn’t have most of its starters. In Week 1 this year, it wasn’t any better, with 153 yards against the University of Tennessee-Martin.

This will be Johnson's first real test against Tulane, a team with aspirations for a playoff berth under the new 12-team College Football Playoff system. They were a solid 59th last season in passing yards allowed per game and returned most of their key players.

It’s going to be tough for K-State to move the ball vertically with Johnson’s limitations. Jayce Brown is a great talent, but we talked more about the situation than him because that will prevent him from flourishing in this offense.
