This weekend’s Georgia vs. Ole Miss SEC showdown game could have College Football Playoff implications — more so for Ole Miss than Georgia. Georgia comes in with only one loss, while Ole Miss has two. This year, it’s unlikely a three-loss team will make it into the top 12.

Below, we’ll provide four CFB DFS picks for the highly-anticipated SEC matchup between Georgia vs. Ole Miss for PrizePicks, highlighting top players and their potential impact on the game, including projections for Carson Beck and Jaxson Dart.

No. 3 Georgia vs. No. 16 Ole Miss: Time, How to Watch

Date: Saturday, November 9, 2024
Time: 3:30 p.m. ET
Location: Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, Oxford, Miss.
TV: ABC, streaming on ESPN+

Georgia comes into this game ranked #3 in the College Football Playoff Rankings and #2 in the AP poll after a 34-20 win over Florida which came down to the fourth quarter.

Ole Miss comes in ranked #16 in both the College Football Playoff Rankings and AP poll. With losses to Kentucky and LSU already this year, another loss here would eliminate the Rebels from College Football Playoff contention.

Georgia QB Carson Beck 268.5 Passing Yards — More

When the College Football Playoff rankings were released, Georgia was expected to be ranked highly, and they sit at No. 3 (and No. 2 in the AP poll) Although this Bulldogs roster may not be as strong as in past seasons, being 13th in points allowed per game (17.2) and 32nd in points scored (33.1) is impressive for most programs.

They’ve had some close games, including last week’s home win against Florida, where the score was tied with four minutes left, even with Florida QB DJ Lagway going down with an injury. Beck has been responsible for most of their success in these games, as the team has had limited production on the ground.

Throwing more often means more opportunities for mistakes; in his last five games, Beck has a 10:11 TD-to-INT ratio. He’ll need to shore up his poor decision making to keep Georgia ahead in this game.

The Rebels, led by QB Jaxson Dart, have the fourth-best scoring offense in the country (42.1), and Beck will need to keep up by throwing the ball. Ole Miss is 13th in the SEC in passing yards allowed per game (234.1), so Beck has a chance to rack up yards if he can avoid turnovers.

Even if he does turn the ball over, if they convert to points for Ole Miss, it could put Beck in a position to keep passing.

Carson Beck CFB DFS Projections

Here are more Carson Beck projections for CFB DFS on PrizePicks.

Carson Beck projections cfb dfs

Georgia WR Arian Smith 54.5 Receiving Yards — Less

Georgia’s passing offense is difficult to defend because Beck doesn’t rely on a single favorite target. Three players have at least 30 catches, including Smith, who leads the team with 503 receiving yards. This is primarily due to two games with over 130 receiving yards; he also has three games with under 40 receiving yards.

Given Ole Miss’ strong man coverage and their tendency to limit vertical passes (allowing only 10.8 yards per completion), Smith may struggle to reach his projected yardage total.

While you do have to sweat the big catch, Smith is averaging only 5.5 targets per game this season.

Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart  272.5 Passing Yards — More

This game features two of the SEC’s premier quarterbacks. While Beck is 15th in passing yards (2,302), Dart leads the nation with 3,210 yards. Even in this matchup, Dart will be relied on to pass the ball.

Georgia’s defense isn’t quite at the level it was a few years ago, particularly against the pass. With many young players and transfers adjusting to SEC competition, they rank 74th in passing yards allowed per completion (11.9).

Dart, who averages 16.2 yards per completion (third in the nation), should have opportunities to make big plays in this matchup.

Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart 24.5 Rushing Yards — Less

Heading into this game, it’s clear that neither team will rely heavily on the run, given each side’s strong defensive front.

If they do, they’ll find little success. Alabama was the only team to have any success running against Georgia, but the Bulldogs adjusted in the second half to secure the win.

Of the two teams, Ole Miss has the stronger run game, ranking 45th in rushing yards per game (178.3), but Georgia’s passing attack will keep the Rebels in a more aerial-focused game plan. While Dart can scramble, it’s often not his first option with Henry Parrish Jr. in the backfield; he’s more likely to rely on quick passes or handoffs if Georgia’s defense pressures the pocket.

Only 26 of Dart’s 62 rushing attempts this year were on scrambles. Not to mention the
