What is League of Legends Worlds 2024?
Often shortened to Worlds 2024, the League of Legends World Championship 2024 is the most prestigious annual esports tournament for League of Legends, organized by Riot Games. It is the end of the season tournament, like the Playoffs in the NFL or NBA.
The top teams from leagues around the world will compete in Europe for the title of World Champion. The international tournament culminates in the Grand Finals on Nov. 2, 2024 — basically, it’s the League of Legends Super Bowl.
This year, the teams will compete for their share of the $2.25 million prize pool. First place will take home $445,000 with the trophy, with second place taking $356,000.
The Play-In and Swiss Stage will take place in Berlin, Germany; the Quarterfinals and Semifinals at Adidas Arena in Paris, France; and the Grand Finals at the O2 Arena in London, England.

How does LoL Worlds Bracket Work?
20 teams will enter, but only one will leave as the World Champion. But it’s not as simple as one bracket, though it does end with one.
There are three stages that teams will go through — the Play-In Stage, Swiss Stage, and Knockout Stage. Here’s what you need to know about each stage.
Play-In Stage
The Play-In Stage will cut the full field down from 20 teams to 16, but only eight teams will be participating. Teams are split into two double-elimination brackets, and losers will meet on the bottom side of the bracket.
Matches are best-of-3 maps. Teams that win twice in this stage will qualify for the Group Stage.
Swiss Stage
16 teams play in the Swiss Stage across five rounds. In the first round, teams are paired against a team from a different region. In rounds two through five, teams are paired based on their win-loss record.
Once a team wins three matches, they advance to the knockout stage. If a team loses three times, they are eliminated.
All matches are best-of-1 maps, except for elimination or advancement matches, which are best-of-3.
Knockout Stage & Grand Finals
Eight teams will play in a single elimination bracket to decide the 2024 World Champion. Every match in the Knockout Stage is best-of-5, which is why there is only one match per day throughout this stage.
LoL Worlds 2024 Teams
20 teams qualified for Worlds, but only 16 will make it to the Swiss Stage.
In total, China (LPL) and Korea (LCK) each have four teams that qualified, Europe (LCS) and North America (LCS) have three teams, Asia-Pacific (PCS) and Vietnam (VCS) have two slots each, while Brazil (CBLOL) and LLA (Latin America) have one each.
