Ravens vs. Buccaneers Monday Night Football: Time, TV, Location

Date: Monday, October 21, 2024

Time: 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff

Location: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, FL.

TV: ABC, ESPN

The Ravens started 0-2 and have seemingly figured it out, rattling off wins over the also 4-2 Bills and Commanders. The Bucs on the other hand are harder to figure out. In Week 2, they beat the currently 4-1 Lions, then a week later lost to the mediocre Broncos.

One thing is for certain though, this one should be a shootout, as both offenses are putting up plenty of points. The Ravens are 31st in passing yards defense and the Buccaneers are 29th. Meanwhile, the Ravens offense is first in total yards per game, and the Buccaneers are 9th.

If you love offense this may be the game of the week for you.

Monday Night Football Picks: Ravens vs. Buccaneers

Below are three picks for Monday Night Football for PrizePicks, as well as a score prediction for the Ravens vs. Buccaneers showdown in Tampa Bay.

Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin 75.5 Receiving Yards — More

Bucs WR Chris Godwin is a man who makes his own fortune. Third in the league at 510 receiving yards, yet his yards before catch per reception (ypc/r) is only 4.3 yards. The two men above him in receiving yards, Ja’Marr Chase and Nico Collins, are at 8.8 ypc/r and 11.6 ypc/r respectively.

To find a lower yards before catch per reception than Godwin among the receiving leaders you have to go all the way down to Wan’Dale Robinson, who is 37th in receiving yards.

Godwin, as you can imagine from the stat above, is first in yards after catch with 324. He is also first in the league in catch percentage at 84.3%, first in the league in first downs at 29, and third in yards after contact with 149.

Now that the case has been made that Godwin is nothing short of extraordinary this season, we can take a look at his matchup. Through six games, the Baltimore Ravens secondary has been torched. They are 31st in passing yards allowed at 275.7 a game.

Couple that with Godwin accounting for 34.3% of all of QB Baker Mayfield's passing yards output, and you could reasonably project Godwin getting over 94 receiving yards. It’s hard not to love him at the PrizePicks projection of 75.5 yards.

Godwin is averaging nearly 9 targets per game, and he’s a guy that Mayfield knows he can trust in a close game, as Godwin hasn’t dropped a 4th quarter target since Week 1 of 2021, the most consecutive 4th quarter targets without a drop in the NFL at 105.

Ravens WR Zay Flowers 60.5 Receiving Yards — More

In 2023, Ravens WR Zay Flowers didn’t have over 80 yards receiving in a game until Week 16, then did it again in the AFC Championship. That building connection and chemistry has continued with QB Lamar Jackson as Flowers has already posted three games of 80+ this year.

After two games in Week 3 and 4 with a negative script for the Ravens passing game, Flowers has been superb. Over the last two weeks, Flowers has the fourth-most catches in the league at 16, the second-most receiving yards at 243, and the second-most yards after the catch at 132.

Flowers will likely carry that momentum into a matchup against the Bucs who allow over 250 passing yards a game — 29th in the league. The Bucs also run a lot of Cover 3, a defensive scheme in which Flowers typically does his best work against.

Couple the putrid passing defenses with the script pointing towards a passing shootout, and I see Flowers sailing past this projection.

TD Scorer Prediction: Ravens RB Derrick Henry Rush+Rec TD (Goblin)

Death, taxes, and King Henry TDs. Through six games Derrick Henry has eight rushing touchdowns, good for first in the NFL, plus one receiving TD for the cherry on top. He has cashed this goblin every week of the season with ease.

Through six weeks he has 16 rush attempts in the red zone (inside the 20-yard line), good for a tie at sixth most in the NFL, along with two targets. His red-zone production accounts for seven of his nine TDs.

Now for the even more impressive part. The matchups have not mattered for Henry. Through five games the Chiefs have only allowed two rushing TDs — one was to Henry. The Bills have only allowed four rushing TDs through six games — one to Henry.

Now rolling into Tampa Bay, Henry gets matched up against a defense that has given up 8 rushing TDs, tied for 27th worst.

Note: Goblin picks reduce your payout on PrizePicks, as they are easier projections to hit.

Monday Night Football Prediction: Ravens 31, Buccaneers 28

The way the Ravens have handled their opponents the last four weeks leads me to believe they can get it done against the Bucs on the road. Ravens QB Lamar Jackson has proven he’s plenty capable of both a passer and a runner, and just when they have you reeling they deploy RB Derrick Henry.

The QB play on display should be superb regardless of who walks away with the W, with Lamar being the fantasy #1 QB and Mayfield being the fantasy #2 QB through six weeks.

Ultimately, in a back and forth high scoring affair, the edge in the running game will go to the Ravens and be enough to win narrowly against the Bucs in Tampa Bay.
