No. 1 Auburn vs. No. 17 Kentucky: Preview, Pick
Time: 1 p.m. ET
How to Watch: ABC
The No. 1 Auburn Tigers (26-2, 14-1) head up to Lexington, Ky., to take on the No. 17 Kentucky Wildcats (19-9, 8-7) in a Saturday afternoon SEC showdown. Auburn has not won a game at Rupp Arena in 37 years, and has only won there twice in program history.
Even in an incredibly deep SEC — which might be the best conference in college basketball history — Auburn has been every team’s Super Bowl this season. Led by Naismith Player of the Year candidate Johni Broome and Naismith Coach of the Year candidate Bruce Pearl, Auburn looks pretty locked-in as the projected No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. With experience, talent and depth, Auburn will be a tough out in the tournament and — right now — they look like the team to beat as we near March Madness.
No. 17 Kentucky may be turning a corner under first-year coach Mark Pope. The Wildcats feature a balanced offense, with six players averaging over nine points per game. One of them, Oklahoma transfer Otega Oweh — brother of Ravens star pass rusher Odafe Oweh — shined Tuesday against his former team, scoring 28 points and a game-winner with just seconds left.
Kentucky’s biggest issue remains its defense, but the recent return of senior Lamont Butler, the team’s top defender, could be a huge help in this game. He played just two games in the past month due to injury and will face off against Auburn’s elite offense.
Here are a few key stats to help you make your DFS picks for Saturday’s SEC showdown on PrizePicks:
- Eight of Auburn’s nine major contributors are seniors, including star big man Johni Broome. The 6-foot-10 stat-sheet stuffer leads Auburn in points (18.8), rebounds (11), assists (3.4) and blocks (2.5) per game.
- Today's SEC showdown features two of the nation's top offenses. Auburn is on pace to post the most efficient offense in KenPom history, surpassing the 2014-15 Wisconsin team that ended Kentucky’s perfect run before falling to Duke in the title game. Kentucky ranks No. 6 in offensive efficiency this season, setting up a potentially high-scoring battle.
- Kentucky big man Amari Williams ranks fifth nationally in defensive rebounding percentage and averages 8.6 boards a game, per KenPom. However, the senior from England has been a bit inconsistent lately, averaging just 6.8 rebounds over his last six games, including two games with just three rebounds and another two games with six.
- Kentucky’s opponents shoot 53.4% against them from 2-point range this season, which is one of the worst rates among Power Five teams.
- KenPom projects this game to be one of the highest-scoring matchup of the day, estimating a total of 167 points between the SEC rivals.
CBB PrizePicks Pick: Auburn F-C Johni Broome — 23.5 Points
No. 6 Alabama vs. No. 5 Tennessee: Preview, Pick
Time: 4 p.m. ET
How to Watch: ESPN
The No. 6 Alabama Crimson Tide (23-5, 12-3) face off with their heated rivals, the No. 5 Tennessee Volunteers (23-5, 10-5), with significant SEC and NCAA Tournament implications on the line.
Alabama looks to keep its high-powered offense rolling. The Tide lead the nation in scoring at 91.5 points per game — more than four points ahead of the next closest team.
Led by preseason All-American Mark Sears (19 PPG) and breakout sophomore Aden Holloway (12 PPG, 42% on 3-pointers), Alabama plays at the nation’s fastest tempo, maximizing possessions for its No. 3-ranked offense, per KenPom. Head coach Nate Oats is revered for his early adoption of an NBA-style, analytics-driven offense that prioritizes 3-pointers and shots and the rim.
Alabama’s elite offense faces off against Tennessee’s No. 1 ranked defense, per KenPom. While the Volunteers are comfortable playing in high-scoring games, they’ve also held some of the nation’s best teams to season lows — No. 1 Auburn scored just 53 points against them, and No. 4 Florida put up just 44. Offensively, the team relies on 5-foot-9 playmaker Zakai Zeigler and one of the nation’s best transfers, Chaz Lanier (17.8 PPG), who hit eight 3-pointers in last weekend’s win at Texas A&M.
Here are a few key stats to help you make your DFS picks for Saturday’s SEC matchup on PrizePicks:
- Alabama guard Mark Sears is on a tear, averaging 28.7 points and has 13 3-pointers over his last three games. The senior is averaging 24.4 points over his last five games.
- The Crimson Tide have scored 85-plus points in 10 of their last 11 games and 95 or more in its last three wins.
- Tennessee counters with the nation’s top defense, per KenPom, holding opponents to 27.6% from 3 (third nationally) and 45.5% inside the arc (15th).
- Vols guard Zakai Zeigler has also been on a heater, averaging 18.3 points over his last six games, up from his season mark of 13.6.
- KenPom projects a high-scoring battle, predicting 151 total points and a five-point Tennessee win.
CBB PrizePicks Pick: Alabama G Mark Sears — 17.5 Points

CBB DFS Picks Today for PrizePicks
Here are four CBB DFS picks to use in your PrizePicks CBB Lineups for today, Saturday, March 1.
Connecticut F Liam McNeeley — 6.0 Rebounds

- UConn F Liam McNeeley has been a force on the glass since returning from an ankle injury. Prior to the win over Georgetown, Cooper Flagg’s high school teammate was averaging 9.2 rebounds per game in his five games back in the lineup. Foul trouble may have limited the star freshman’s impact Wednesday, as he finished with just three boards.
- McNeeley has emerged as UConn’s top rebounder since the injury. In those six games, he has more rebounds (49) than teammates Tarris Reed (47, including 15 in one game) and Alex Karaban (32).
- Today’s opponent, Providence, has struggled defensively. The Friars are currently ranked 130th in defensive efficiency and have allowed over 80 points in each of their last five losses. KenPom currently gives UConn a 60% chance to win the game and projects a total of 149 points.
Kansas G Zeke Mayo — 13.5 Points & 2.5 3-PT Made (Demon)

- Over the last month, the Lawrence, Kan., native has averaged 4.8 made 3-pointers per game at Allen Fieldhouse while shooting 57.6% from deep. Kansas hosts No. 10 Texas Tech in a key Big 12 matchup today.
- Mayo has been far more efficient at home this season, averaging 17.5 points per game compared to 10.1 on the road. The South Dakota State transfer is shooting 44.7% from 3-point range at Allen Fieldhouse but just 31% on the road.
- Kansas relies on Mayo in late-game situations — he leads the team in free-throw shooting at 82.8%. KenPom gives the Jayhawks a 55% chance to win, projecting a one-point margin of victory.
Missouri G Tamar Bates — 0.5 3-PT Made (Goblin)

- Missouri G Tamar Bates is averaging 13.2 points per game on 41.4% shooting from 3-point range.
- Bates has scored in double figures in 12 of the last 14 games and hit a 3-pointer in all but two games.
- The Indiana transfer has made at least two 3-pointers in each of his last four games, shooting 54.5% from deep during that stretch. The Tigers head to Nashville on Saturday to take on Vanderbilt.
- Vanderbilt allows opponents to shoot 37% from beyond the arc, which ranks 344th out of 364 teams.
Texas A&M G Wade Taylor IV — 2.5 3-PT Made

- Senior G Wade Taylor IV has struggled with his shot the last few weeks. While he is averaging 15.8 points over his last six games, he is not scoring at an efficient rate — shooting under 36.5% in each game.
- Outside of a 7-for-10 performance against the SEC-worst South Carolina Gamecocks, Taylor is shooting less than 26% from deep over his last seven games.
- Texas A&M is one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in the country this season, shooting just 30.6% from downtown.
- Today’s home team — the Florida Gators — are No. 6 in the nation in 3-point defense and allow opponents to make just 29.2% of their 3-point attempts.
- This game is expected to be a defensive battle; both Texas A&M and Florida enter today with top ten defenses, according to KenPom.
- KenPom projects 146 total points to be scored in this game.
