Iowa vs. Ohio State: Preview, Pick

Time: 6:00 p.m. ET
How to Watch: Peacock

Ohio State (17-14, 9-11 Big Ten) hopes to sneak into the Big Dance as the Buckeyes are looking for a good showing in the Big Ten tournament. Ohio State ranks 35th in the country according to KenPom, in spite of losing four of its final six games. However, they are currently in the last four in, according to ESPN, so the Buckeyes can’t afford a loss here.

The Buckeyes sit in the middle of the conference in offensive and defensive efficiency numbers. However, Ohio State ranks 14th in league play in 2-point percentage (50.1%), but is the third-best shooting team in Big 10 action in free-throw shooting at 77.9%.

Iowa (16-15, 7-13 Big Ten) is going to miss the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season after qualifying the previous three seasons.

The Hawkeyes rank last in Big Ten play in defensive efficiency and 17th in both 2-point and 3-point defense — not exactly a recipe for success.

Ohio State won the first matchup against Iowa in Columbus, 82-65, in late January. Both teams had problems from long distance as each squad shot worse than 31% from 3-point range.

Here are a few key stats to help you make your DFS picks for Wednesday’s Big Ten battle on PrizePicks:

  • KenPom projects this game to be one of the highest-scoring matchups in Wednesday’s action, estimating a total of 159 points between the conference rivals.
  • Ohio State G Bruce Thornton was limited to nine points at Indiana, which stopped a six-game streak of double-digit points.
  • Thornton has eclipsed the 22.5 combined points + assists — his projection on PrizePicks today — in three of the last four games.
  • Buckeyes F Devin Royal closed the regular season with three straight double-digit scoring outputs.
  • Royal compiled 12 points and nine rebounds in the last meeting with Iowa as his points + rebounds projection for Wednesday sits at 20.5.
  • Iowa F Payton Sandfort has not fared well from downtown of late by hitting 5-of-29 attempts from 3-point range the last five games.
  • The Buckeyes have given up seven 3-pointers or less in 13 of the past 15 games. Iowa shot 7-of-25 from downtown in the first matchup with Ohio State.
  • Iowa ranks 24th in the country in 3-point shooting at 37.7%. However, the Hawkeyes were held to 34% shooting or worse in five of the past six games away from Iowa City.

CBB PrizePicks Pick: Iowa F Payton Sandfort — 1.5 3-Pointers Made (Goblin)

Oklahoma vs. Georgia: Preview, Pick

Time: 9:30 p.m. ET
How to Watch: SEC Network

Oklahoma (19-12, 6-12 SEC) makes its debut in the SEC tournament as the Sooners are fighting for a berth in the Big Dance.

The Sooners are coming off consecutive victories over Missouri and Texas to move into the top-40 in the country in the KenPom ratings.

Georgia (20-11, 8-10 SEC) faced the second-toughest schedule in conference play, which included a pair of losses to Auburn along with defeats to Florida, Alabama, and Tennessee.

However, the Bulldogs have heated up down the stretch with four straight wins, including a five-point home victory over Florida.

These teams met early in conference action as Georgia took care of Oklahoma in Athens, 72-62. The squads combined to shoot 10-of-44 from 3-point range, including a 3-of-17 output from the Bulldogs.

Here are a few key stats to help you make your DFS picks for Wednesday’s SEC matchup on PrizePicks:

  • KenPom projects this game at 148 points, which is four points higher than the first matchup.
  • G Jeremiah Fears leads the Sooners in scoring at 16.3 points per game. Fears was limited to two points on 1-of-11 shooting in the first matchup with Georgia.
  • Fears has posted more than 23 points and rebounds in four of the last six games. His projection on PrizePicks is set at 22.5 points + rebounds.
  • Oklahoma F Jalon Moore (16.2 points per game) has not shot well down the stretch, going 6-of-19 from the floor in the last three games, totalling 23 points.
  • Georgia F Asa Newell averaged 17.3 points in the final six games of the season, including a 23-point, 10-rebound effort in a mid-February loss to Missouri.
  • Newell’s rebounding projection for Wednesday is set at 5.5 on PrizePicks. He has picked up less than five rebounds in four of the last five games.
  • In the last nine games played away from Athens, Georgia has been held to 36% shooting or worse from 3-point range.

CBB PrizePicks Pick: Georgia F Asa Newell — 5.5 Rebounds
