Week 9 NFL Injury Report
Packers QB Jordan Love battling groin injury
Packers QB Jordan Love was forced out of Sunday’s matchup against the Jaguars with a groin injury. He is officially listed as day-to-day for their important Week 9 matchup with the Lions but he is “determined” to play in Week 9.
The Packers could take a cautious approach with Love, considering that they have a bye in Week 10. Should he be sidelined, Packers QB Malik Willis will receive his third start of the season.
Bengals WR Tee Higgins (Quad) labeled day-to-day
Bengals WR Tee Higgins suffered a quadriceps injury in practice Friday that forced him to miss last week against the Eagles. If he is unable to return against the Raiders, then Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase should remain busy. He was targeted 11 times against the Eagles, posting nine receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown. Andrei Iosivas filled in opposite Chase, playing 88% of the snaps.
Patriots QB Drake Maye dealing with concussion
A concussion forced Patriots QB Drake Maye out of their Week 8 matchup with the Jets. Patriots QB Jacoby Brissett threw for 132 yards in relief. In five starts to begin the season, Brissett never eclipsed 170 passing yards in a game and threw just two total touchdown passes. Still, he is in line to start if Maye is not cleared in time for Week 9.
Jaguars RB Brian Thomas Jr. (Chest) officially day-to-day
It was initially reported that Jaguars RB Brian Thomas Jr. would miss 2-to-4 weeks with his chest injury that he suffered against the Eagles. However, the team said Monday that he is considered day-to-day.
Jaguars WR Christian Kirk fractured his collarbone in that same game and has been ruled out for the remainder of the season. On the bright side, Jaguars WR Gabe Davis (shoulder) should play this week, according to head coach Doug Pederson. WR Parker Washington will be in for more snaps with Kirk out.
Texans WR Stefon Diggs (knee) to miss the rest of the season
Texans WR Stefon Diggs season is over after the 31-year-old wide receiver tore his ACL on Sunday. Texans WR Nico Collins is also sidelined with a hamstring injury as well, so WR Tank Dell is the clear WR1 for the time being, Xavier Hutchinson will lead the receivers behind him, with Robert Woods working in as well. It’s not exactly ideal for QB C.J. Stroud right now.
Other NFL Week 9 Injuries for DFS
- Seahawks WR DK Metcalf (knee) sat out Week 8 against the Bills, but Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said that it’s looking optimistic that Metcalf could return versus the Rams. Metcalf has produced four games this season with at least 99 receiving yards.
- Giants RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. has landed in the concussion protocol coming off his Week 8 performance against the Steelers. He has become the Giants primary running back, receiving at least 17 carries in three of their last four games. If he is unable to play, then Giants RB Devin Singletary will be in line for a heavy workload.
- Panthers QB Andy Dalton was forced to sit out Week 8 after suffering a thumb injury during a car accident. Panthers QB Bryce Young started in his place, throwing for 224 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. It’s unclear if Dalton will reclaim his starting job for a Week 9 matchup with the Saints.
- Saints QB Derek Carr (oblique) is expected to return after missing three straight games — a much needed addition for the Saints offense. He’ll have an excellent matchup against the Panthers, who have allowed 33.9 points per game.
- While it’s not an injury, it’s worth noting that Colts QB Anthony Richardson was benched in favor of QB Joe Flacco. Flacco threw for 548 yards and five touchdowns in the two games he started earlier this season.

NFL Week 9 Pass Defenses to Target
Ravens Defense vs. Broncos
Broncos QB Bo Nix took advantage of the Panthers porous defense last week, throwing for 284 yards and three touchdowns. He also added a rushing touchdown. The Ravens are a vastly superior team than the Panthers, but not on the defensive side of the ball.
In fact, the Ravens have allowed the highest explosive pass percentage (16.25%) in the league, per 4for4 Fantasy Football. This could be another banner performance by Nix and the Broncos offense.
PrizePicks to consider: Bo Nix 212.5 Pass Yards / Courtland Sutton 51.5 Receiving Yards
Jaguars Defense vs. Eagles
The Jaguars are right up there with the Ravens, allowing the third-highest explosive pass percentage (15.45%) in the league, per 4for4. The Jaguars, Ravens, and Panthers are also tied for the most passing touchdowns allowed (17) in the league. The Jaguars have given up 8.80 yards per target to wide receivers, which is the second-highest mark in the league.
PrizePicks to consider: A.J. Brown 79.5 Receiving Yards / DeVonta Smith 59.5 Receiving Yards
NFL Week 9 Run Defenses to Target
Panthers Defense vs. Saints
The Panthers have allowed 14 rushing touchdowns, which is two more than any other team. Their rush EPA/play allowed is 0.03, which is the fourth-highest mark in the league, per 4for4. When Saints RB Alvin Kamara faced them in Week 1, he ran for 83 yards and a touchdown. Expect him to provide another valuable stat line in their rematch.
PrizePicks to consider: Alvin Kamara 70.5 Rush Yards
Seattle Seahawks Defense vs Rams
The Seahawks enter this matchup having allowed the fourth-most rushing yards per game (148.4) in the league. They have also allowed the fifth-highest yards per carry (5.0). Rams RB Kyren Williams has received at least 21 carries in four of his last five games, so a heavy workload against a bad run defense leaves him with tremendous upside.
PrizePicks to consider: Kyren Williams 81.5 Rush Yards

Week 9 NFL DFS Picks
Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. 61.5 Rush Yards — More
Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. received 16 carries against the Bears last week, finishing with 65 rushing yards. It was the fourth time in seven games that he has received at least 16 carries. It was also his fourth game with at least 65 rushing yards.
Week 9 brings a rematch with the Giants, who he ran for 133 yards against in Week 2. In the last two games, the Giants have given up 114 yards to Steelers RB Najee Harris, and 176 yards to Eagles RB Saquon Barkley.
The Giants have allowed the ninth-highest explosive rush percentage (11.11%) in the league per 4for4, so Robinson has the potential to blow past this projection in their rematch.
Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb 85.5 Receiving Yards — More
The Cowboys rushing attack is a mess. Since they have struggled so much on the ground, they have attempted the eighth-most passes (276) in the league. That has resulted in Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb averaging 10.3 targets per game.
He has recorded at least 89 receiving yards in three of his last four games and should be in line for a hefty workload against a Falcons team that has allowed the sixth-most receptions (108) in the league to wide receivers.
Best TD Scorer Pick: Falcons RB Bijan Robinson 0.5 Rush+Rec TDs — More (Demon)
While Falcons RB Bijan Robinson did not record a rushing touchdown against the Buccaneers last week, he did have a receiving score. That extended his streak to three straight games with at least one touchdown.
Robinson has a favorable opportunity to reach the end zone again versus the Cowboys, who have allowed 10 total touchdowns to running backs over seven games.
Goblin Pick: Bears QB Caleb Williams 0.5 Pass TDs — More
Bears QB Caleb Williams struggled against the Commanders in Week 8, throwing for 131 yards and no touchdowns. Before the Bears had a bye in Week 7, Williams had thrown at least one touchdown pass in four straight games. That included a four-touchdown performance against the Jaguars in Week 6.
The Cardinals have allowed 25.6 points per game, so look for Williams to start a new streak of games with at least one passing touchdown.
Note: Goblin picks reduce your payout on PrizePicks, as they are easier projections to hit.
