The 2024 WNBA Playoffs begin on Sunday, September 22, and all eyes are on the W to see who will lift the 2024 WNBA title. After a long season which included many star players participating in the Olympics, eight teams vie to see who will hoist the WNBA Championship Trophy.

2024 WNBA Playoffs Bracket

The WNBA Playoffs is an eight-team, single-elimination bracket. The first round is a best-of-three matchup, with the semi-finals and finals being best-of-five games.

Here are the four first round matchups for the WNBA Playoffs

  • #8 Atlanta Dream vs. #1 New York Liberty 
  • #5 Seattle Storm vs. #4 Las Vegas Aces
  • #6 Indiana Fever vs. #3 Connecticut Sun
  • #7 Phoenix Mercury vs. #2 Minnesota Lynx

2024 WNBA Playoff Teams

Eight WNBA teams made the playoffs with a few of the seeds getting determined on the final day of the season. Here are your eight playoff teams for 2024:

  • New York Liberty - No. 1 seed
  • Minnesota Lynx - No. 2 seed
  • Connecticut Sun - No. 3 seed
  • Las Vegas Aces -  No. 4 seed
  • Seattle Storm - No. 5 seed
  • Indiana Fever - No. 6 seed
  • Phoenix Mercury - No. 7 seed
  • Atlanta Dream - No. 8 seed

The Chicago Sky, which held the eight seed for most of the season, were eliminated on Thursday after losing to the Connecticut Sun. Season-ending injuries to Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardoso, and Chennedy Carter ended up playing a crucial part in the team’s struggles down the stretch.

2024 WNBA Playoffs Schedule

The 2024 WNBA Playoffs begin as a best-of-three-game series in the first round. The format is unique in that the higher-seeded team will host Games 1 and 2 and go on the road for Game 3.

After the first round, teams compete in the traditional best-of-five game format for the semi-finals and the finals

2024 WNBA Playoff Teams Power Rankings

The teams at their current seeds of one through eight are not indicative of how the teams look headed into the playoffs. These power rankings will give you an idea of who the top teams are for the WNBA title.

The Lynx, even as the second seed, should be favorites for the title. They’re a top-two defensive team and led by superstar forward Napheesa Collier, who averaged 20.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. 

The Lynx won the regular season series against the Liberty 3-1, including a win over them in the Commissioner’s Cup Final. 

How to Watch The 2024 WNBA Playoffs

The WNBA Playoffs begin Sunday, September 22, on ESPN and ABC. The top-seeded Liberty host the Dream to kick off the playoff slate. All games will be broadcast on the ESPN Family of Networks — ESPN, ESPN2, ABC, and streaming on ESPN.com.
