This NFC Showdown features a Green Bay Packer team looking to clinch an NFC Wild Card spot as they sit behind two dominant division rivals — the Lions and Vikings — in the NFC North. Their opposition, the 5-9 New Orleans Saints, were eliminated from Playoff contention this weekend.

Down two games in the division coming into the weekend, the Packers go into this game with a 99% chance to make the Playoffs. 

New Orleans is playing for pride, which should allow for them to play loose and free although they have many things stacked against them as huge dogs. The Saints will be starting QB Spencer Rattler, as Derek Carr is done for the year. They’re also missing RB Alvin Kamara, WR Chris Olave, WR Rashid Shaheed, WR Bub Means, and utility player Tayson Hill. It is a disaster for this team, and now they have to go on the road to Lambeau Field.

The Packers’ offense should have their way this week, as the Saints’ defense has struggled all year. This should lead to more touchdowns and potentially less opportunities for McManus to kick field goals.

The Saints offense was stagnant as their quarterback troubles without Carr have left them in an interesting spot. While Spencer Rattler had more success than Jake Haener last week, the Saints will have trouble moving the ball efficiently with the fourth-round pick in a rowdy environment. 

Although Grupe should have more opportunities than McManus, this projection seems too high for them to achieve.

New Orleans allows the eighth-most rushing touchdowns in the NFL this season with 16. It also allows the sixth-most rushing yards per game in the NFL. With playmakers on the Saints defensive line, I expect the Packers’ running game to slow down a bit; however, Jacobs will get goal-line touches. 

Green Bay has the second-lowest passing play percentage in the NFL, only behind the Philadelphia Eagles. They are also 30th in pass-rate over expectation, per nfelo, The amount of rushing play calls, specifically at the goal-line sets Jacobs up to find the end zone for the sixth-straight week.

The Packers should get out to an early lead so the play calling towards the end of the game should be very run heavy. If you want to go more risk-on, Jacobs to score two touchdowns is a Demon projection, which will boost your payout.

This game should be fairly lopsided. The Saints have some concerns at quarterback this week as Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener are not reliable options.
