The 2025 Lombardi Trophy has been handed out to the Eagles, and it’s time to focus on the offseason with NFL free agency and the 2025 NFL Draft. There are a ton of players on the free agency market who could impact the offensive side of the ball for any of the 32 teams in the NFL.

We will look at the top 2025 free agents by position at QB, RB, WR, and TE, including ranking the top 10 at each position, and the overall top 25 free agents. We’ll also explore how they could impact their next teams.

Top NFL Free Agents 2025: Quarterbacks

Here are the top 10 quarterbacks hitting free agency in 2025. Find our predicted landing spots for top free agent QBs here.

1. Sam Darnold

2024 could be considered a breakout season for Darnold, as he led the Vikings to the playoffs. He finished the season fifth in passing yards (4,319), passing touchdowns (35), and sixth in first downs (207).

The final two games, in which he threw one touchdown and one interception, might leave a sour taste in the team’s mouths, but given the value of quarterbacks and the current market, Darnold could get a huge payday.

2024 Stats: 4,319 yards, 35 TD, 12 INT

2. Justin Fields

Wilson was always intended to become the starter in Pittsburgh when he got healthy, so there was little chance for Fields to keep that job. In the short time he was the starter, he proved that he deserves another shot to start in the NFL.

He had one of his more impressive seasons, including career highs in passing success rate (42.9), adjusted air yards gained per pass attempt (7.21), and on-target throw percentage (75%).

When you add his athleticism and ability to use his legs, he could achieve the same redemption we’ve seen from other veteran quarterbacks in recent years.

2024 Stats: 1,106 yards, 5 TD, 1 INT, 289 rush yards

3. Russell Wilson

It was an up-and-down season for Wilson, and there are questions about how much more the 37-year-old has left. He finished the third straight year with a sub-100 quarterback rating and eight air yards per pass attempt.

He did not have the best compliment of offensive weapons, and his best receiver, George Pickens, missed a few games. As he enters the twilight of his career, he likely won’t play for a non-contender or take a backup role. However, there is potential for a reunion with Pete Carroll in Las Vegas.

2024 Stats: 2,482 yards, 16 TD, 5 INT

7. Jimmy Garoppolo

8. Gardnew Minshew

10. Mac Jones

Top NFL Free Agents 2025: Running Backs

Here are the top 10 running backs hitting free agency in 2025.

1. Aaron Jones

Jones took a risk and signed a one-year contract with the Vikings, and it paid off by finishing ninth in rushing yards (1,138). He’ll be an excellent three-down option with the ability to handle a heavy workload, as his 255 carries was ninth. He's also been one of the better pass-catching running backs and finished seventh in receiving yards amongst running backs (408) in 2024.

If Minnesota doesn’t bring him back, he could go to a team that needs a starting running back, like the Cowboys, Broncos, or Raiders.

2024 Stats: 255 rushes, 1,138 yards, 5 TD, 51 receptions, 408 rec yards, 2 rec TD

2. J.K. Dobbins

If it were based on pure skills alone, 26-year-old Dobbins would be one of the top free-agent running backs this offseason. However, his injury history will hinder his long-term contract chances. He’s missed 47 of a potential 84 games, including the entire 2021 season and all but one quarter in 2023.

When he was healthy, he became the workhorse of the Chargers' backfield and excelled. He averaged 4.6 yards per carry and, according to Player Profiler, had an 110.9 explosive play rate, ranking seventh among running backs.

Don’t be surprised if the Chargers ask him back, especially being familiar with Greg Roman’s offense.

2024 Stats: 195 carries, 905 yards, 9 TD, 32 receptions, 153 rec yards

3. Najee Harris

The Steelers didn’t exercise Harris’ fifth-year option, so he needed to go out and prove himself, and he did. He came away with his fourth-straight 1,000+ rushing yard season, the second-straight year where he averaged at least 4.0 yards per carry, and had a career-high 7.9 yards per reception.

That dual-threat ability makes him a great asset, and he can be used in passing downs — a must for modern day running backs. He was able to put up great numbers even with being in a split backfield with Jaylen Warren.

He’s a fantastic, consistent runner that can break through the line of scrimmage, but also has the speed to be an east-to-west runner. He finished ninth amongst running back with 66 evaded tackles, despite a middling yards per carry average.

Wherever he signs next, he should be the focal point of the backfield and continue to contribute in the passing game.

2024 Stats: 263 carries, 1,043 yards, 6 TD, 36 receptions, 283 rec yards

Top NFL Free Agents 2025: Wide Receivers

Here are the top 10 wide receivers hitting free agency in 2025.

1. Tee Higgins

There are rumors that the Bengals will franchise tag Higgins for the second year in a row, but until that happens, he is still a potential free agent. Last season, Higgins played on a $21.8 million franchise tag, but this season, that number would increase to around $26.2 million, between Cooper Kupp and DeVonta Smith in 2025 salary rankings, per Spotrac.

Higgins is the consensus top free agent wide receiver during this offseason. He’s never been considered the top option for Cincinnati, playing second fiddle to Ja’Marr Chase, but he has performed like a WR1. Since being drafted in 2020, his 4,595 receiving yards are 18th in the league, and the 34 receiving touchdowns are 12th, despite playing in only 12 games in each of the last two seasons.

Every team that needs a wide receiver will be trying to get him if he hits the market, including the Steelers, Raiders, and Panthers. He knows he will command a big payday, so any team that wants him must make a big financial commitment.

2024 Stats: 73 receptions, 911 yards, 10 TD

2. Chris Godwin

Godwin has been one of the more dependable slot receivers in the NFL, which has become an even more important position in the league through his career. He came into the 2024 season with three straight 1,000+-yard receiving seasons alongside the 1,000-yard merchant Mike Evans. He was on pace for another big season before a broken ankle ended his season late in the Week 7 loss to the Ravens. Injuries have been a problem, as he has missed games in five of the last six seasons.

He’s been a top-tier route runner throughout his career; in 2022 and 2023, he finished in the top five in total route wins.

He could sign to a team with a young quarterback who needs a security blanket, like Chicago, Carolina, or New England. However, Tampa Bay might find a way to have him return. Godwin and the Bucs agreed to move his contract void date to the start of the new league year, which means they have longer to agree on a new deal.

The Bucs did see rookie WR Jalen McMillan emerge without Godwin, but would be missing a real slot threat without Godwin.

2024 Stats: 50 receptions, 576 yards, 5 TD (7 games due to ankle injury)

3. Amari Cooper

It was Cooper’s most disappointing season, as he finished with a career-low 547 receiving yards and four touchdowns in a season split between the Browns and Bills. We could blame his situation on the turmoil within the Browns organization, especially at the quarterback position. He was then traded to the Bills, where he wasn’t an excellent fit for their system and never really became a key part of the receiving corps

As he turns 31-years-old this offseason, Cooper still has enough in the tank to play a prominent part in an offense. If you look at his 2023 season, the talent is still there, as he finished that year 10th in receiving yards (1,250), sixth in deep targets (29), and third in yards per recreation (17.4).

Cooper could be a veteran presence for a younger team or be the second option for a playoff contender. There has been some talk about Cooper returning to the Cowboys, though their cap space is quite tight, ranking 26th in available money, per Spotrac.

2024 Stats: 44 receptions, 547 yards, 4 TD (with Cleveland and Buffalo — 14 games)

Top NFL Free Agents 2025: Tight Ends

Here are the top 10 tight ends hitting free agency in 2025.

1. Juwan Johnson

Johnson played in the shadow of the Swiss army knife Taysom Hill, but he was an exceptional pass catcher in his time with the Saints. He hit a lot of milestones this past season with a career-best 32.2 receiving yards per game, 56.1% receiving success rate, and 8.3 yards per target.

He’s a big-bodied receiver who isn’t afraid to catch in the middle of the field, and he could become a team’s top tight end. One problem is that Johnson can’t be relied on as a pass-blocker, as he ranked last in pass block grade among 60 tight ends with 200 snaps, per PFF.

2024 Stats: 50 receptions, 548 yards, 3 TD

2. Mike Gesicki

Gesicki had a comeback year in Cincinnati. His 665 receiving yards were his best since 2021, and his 62.7% receiving success rate was a career high.

He was a reliable option for QB Joe Burrow, as he was third on the team in receiving yards, catches (65), and targets (83). Do not be surprised if the Bengals bring him back, but he showed he still has enough left to play a vital part on any offense.

2024 Stats: 65 receptions, 665 yards, 2 TD

3. Zach Ertz

Although there are suspicions that Zach Ertz could retire, he has made it clear that he hopes to play for the Commanders again in 2025. From what we saw last season, Ertz can still play as a key target and is solid in pass blocking when needed.

The most important thing was that he stayed healthy. He played an entire season for the first time since 2021 after missing a combined 17 games in the previous two seasons.

He was an excellent security blanket for rookie Jayden Daniels, and if he doesn't return to Washington, he could play that role again for another quarterback.

2024 Stats: 66 receptions, 654 yards, 7 TD
